cnn's nada bashir is following all of the developments for us this morning.nder what the authorities think of the fact that these numbers are getting out there and that shocking details of actually who's being killed. >> yeah, there has been a real effort to control the spread of information. we've seen internet restrictions across parts of the country in an attempt to stop the videos and details coming out. we've heard from numerous human rights organizations already detailing these violent acts by the iranian security forces expressing concern in particular over the use of lethal and excessive force and also in particular against young people. as you heard in the troubling report from amnesty international, 23 children identified their names and photographs in their report killed at the hands of the iranian security forces. according to amnesty either by live fire ammunition, by lethal beatings or by other means. this is really a huge concern. we've heard from unicef expressing concern how children are being treated by the security forces and what really ra

cnn's naddia bashir has more. >> reporter: several prisoners have been confirmed dead and several others a fire broke out on saturday according to state media. the facility in tehran has gained infamy for the detention of political prisoners including human rights activists, lawyers, journalists and professors as well as foreign nationals. while cnn is not able to independently verify what caused the fire, some details have emerged from pro-reform organizations. in footage obtained by an activist group gunfire and alarms have can be heard in the background as flames engulfed the prison complex. meanwhile an outlet reported on saturday a source in the prison said a revolt had taken place in part of the facility and a fire subsequently ensued. now, government authorities on saturday were quick to assert that the situation had been brought under control, but the security official telling state media that the fire started after a group of thugs set fire to a clothing warehouse in the complex adding the so-called rioters response had been separated from other detainees. of course while the ir

cnn's tnada bashir live from london this morning.being used against these protecteders. >> reporter: look, christine, we heard from human rights organizations condemning the actions of the iranian security forces. we're talking about tear gas, metal pellets, beatings and live fire ammunition being used against peaceful protesters. just over the weekend in the kurdish cities, we saw according to one human rights group based in iran, the reported shooting by the iranian security forces of four individuals, at least four people killed across those two cities. as you laid out there, the death toll, according to human rights groups, appears to be rising. this is a brutal and deadly crackdown by the security forces. we heard just yesterday from iran's deputy interior minister for security and law enforcement outlining the regime's hardline response to what he described as riots, not protests, those arrested by authorities and police will be tried quickly and their verdicts would be deterrent for others hoping to take part in these protests
