south bay at 58. we're coming in with more of those 50s over the east bay, san francisco, and the north bay. daytime highs tomorrow, it's going to be right around average. down here across the south bay, i think we can do this. 82 in san jose. morgan hill, 88. through the east bay, 72 in oakland. 89 danville. concord, 88. right against the peninsula here at the coastline, 62 in half moon bay. down to redwood city, 78. san francisco, 60s from downtown through the ingleside. and the north bay, we have a hot 97 in ukiah and back to napa, 84. over to novato, 87. there is some isolated heat tomorrow, but, again, everything really looks to change for us. beginning on thursday, we're going to start to see those numbers increasing with some widespread mid and upper 90s inland from this area of high pressure. eventually this is going to build right on top of california. that's when we're going to get into some dangerous heat as the heat wave looks to officially begin on saturday. when it's a heat wave, we real

59 degrees in half moon bay. what a difference in temperatures over 40 degrees from half moon bay to livermore this afternoon, right? stepping outside right now that cool fall continues. working along the coastline. 15 60's there. it is still hot inland, though. 91 in livermore. still 95 in pittsburgh, 96 in brownwood. 92 saint helene and 79 degrees in santa rosa changes coming our way, though, for tomorrow, the temperatures will begin to cool down a little bit. it's still going to be hot as you head inland. you got some triple digits in the concord in livermore again, while back along the coastline. those number generally in the 60's. but what we're watching out for again tonight is a chance. some of that dry lightning developing around the bay area. the chance of thunderstorms, of course, we don't want to see that happen. but here comes that monsoon late tonight and tomorrow. all right. thank you. thank you, lawrence. >> well, california and nevada leaders. they met in lake tahoe today to pledge action on clima

inland east bay. comfortable sleeping weather for now but i think low temperatures by next weekend could be in the upper 60s. 61 degrees right now in dublin. 64 degrees and the reason for the haze is wildfire smoke which has been dropping down the east, being pushed inland by the sea breeze which is bringing in smoke and low clouds for the morning. you can see it there. the upper level low just off shore. the unhealthy levels for near surface smoke up in northwestern california and southwest oregon. we have the low clouds and the drizzle. similar trend. clouds on the coast but a change for the afternoon for inland areas across the north bay. you may see a few high clouds. that upper low that's bringing us a little bit of the smoke. probably not enough midlevel moisture to warrant any real shower chances and there you see the low clouds in to tuesday morning. our temperature trend at least to start the week is a familiar one. it is similar to what we had this weekend. by lunchtime temperatures climbing

tam: mission bay was once a bay. it was an inlet of the bay. it was marshy and brackish and kind of shallow. mission bay is finally getting built after many, many years of planning and agreements around infrastructure. there are some really important institutions that are there now, new commercial buildings, as well. it's an area that is rapidly becoming a part of the urban fabric of san francisco where it really was once seen as, like, a strange and unoccupied place, but, because we planned it in an era before we were thinking of sea level rise, it's also very low-lying, and it's one of the city's more vulnerable places to future sea level rise. scholl: the problem is that the land is so valuable because it's now land. development companies couldn't not build there. there were billions of dollars in real estate to be had, but they built it in probably one of the worst places they could have. it was a bay in the past, and it most likely will be a bay in the future. tam: we picked this part of the shoreline for a study around design concepts for

we'll see throughout much of the bay area especially in the north bay as we get some more wildfire smoke coming in, we're going to be monitoring that as we take a look at temperatures for today, headed up for 68 degrees in san francisco, 84 in novato and hayward headed for 77 degrees. livermore reaching 89 and san jose as well as fremont up to about 80 degrees. as we go into the day tomorrow, just another degree or two warmer in a few spots, that will be the trend as we head through the week with the temperatures heating up and this weekend labor day weekend is looking really hot, so we'll talk more about that coming up. mike, you were looking for a traffic alert on highway 4. >> i am. i had a good weekend but these folks did not have a good start to the monday, a couple cars involved in a crash, only the fast lane open for eastbound highway 4. chp declared there were five lanes available that may include an exit for san marco boulevard. only one is open. you don't see a lot of slowing because there's not a lot of traffic. a lot of activity, one vehicle may have two people still stuck in
