wednesday morning across the bay area. we see this wet pattern continuing through midweek before we can look for anything to dry out a bit. right now, most of the rain piling up on the north coast, but the tail end of the system will be moving through the north bay and across the bay area here through the evening, into tomorrow, as a wet pattern sets up through midweek. again, the second system out here is stronger and wetter, which will likely bring significantly more rain to the area. as we take a look at future cast here, you see the first frontal boundary through the bay area by tomorrow afternoon, generally speaking less than a tenth of an inch. greater rainfall expected early wednesday. that could be up to an inch for the greater bay area. then north looking for 1 to 3 inches of rain possible by that time. so it will be a good rain maker for the area here, even though it is about a month early. we see again monday, light morning dew, into tuesday and wednesday. thursday morning, showers taper off and we dry out throu

here in the bay area the occupy movement is also growing. in oakland right now thousands of protesters are getting support from some east bay mayors and one hollywood celebrity. nbc bay area's mike francis is in downtown oakland with that part of the story for us. monty? >> reporter: good evening. the occupy oakland movement started about five days ago when people started camping out here. thousands of people today took part in a march from lady college and that march ended here about an hour ago. the march had a message of jobs not cuts. it was organized in part by the group movon.org. while the march and rally focused on jobs there continue to be a number of competing messages out here. we saw signs for legalizing marijuana, anti-war signs, even some speaking out about oscar grant. but for the most resounding message it seems to be about the disparity between the ultra rich and the middle class. actor danny glover was one of the speakers here today. we spoke to him one-on-one about 40 minutes ago. here is how he defined the message. >> peop

and i think it's really important we look at that as our bay area region, as our bay area identity. so along those lines i wanted to -- passed out an invitation to a workshop where we're going to begin to look at some of those regional issues. it will be at november 1 at ames. i hope everyone can attend. >> the importance at looking at a regional level is half of our work force lives outside of san francisco. so looking from a regional perspective, i think that would be really important too. >> i would say one of the biggest gaps we have is the lack of that regional recovery planning which i know there are various -- i know there are various initiatives nowadays moving forward. i think it's very important. i also think at the state level we really need to think more substantive recovery plan that would, you know, seek to tie a lot of these pieces together. >> i might just add that there's a thing called the joint policy committee. it's immediating up with the four agencies, regional -- it's meeting up with the four agencies, regional agencies. now implementing, trying to figure out

in thursday we see high pressure back towards the bay area. temperatures climb back up. 80s likely by the end of the week for inland valleys and maybe mid-80s once again towards the weekend. tonight we'll be watching the low clouds approaching the coast, probably areas of drizzle for the morning drive, highway 17 and highway 1 across the golden gate bridge. 50s overnight and it will take some time. the east bay valleys stay in the 60s and maybe through 70 by 11:00 tonight. by tomorrow morning you feel the cooler marine area in the although montt pass. we should run cooler down probably 5 to 10 degrees for high temperatures tomorrow. that means 70s to low 80s inland. not the upper 80s to near 90 like today near san ramone and pleasanton. much cooler for san francisco and the coast. that's a 20-degree drop from today's high. through the east bay valleys we see low 80s for the afternoon. a cooldown for morning drizzle, but if it gets too chilly we go in the opposite direction for the weekend. >> it didn't feel as hot in the east bay because there

no real hints at an ocean air conditioning event around the bay area. winds lightly offshore around san francisco. that's the reason why still 68 degrees here tonight. 60s and 70s outside here at 11:00. you can see those 70s around the east bay, down to san jose. cooler in north bay, seeing those numbers in the low 60s. we will see numbers in the 50s and 60s. it will probably take until before sun rise to hit the lows. and there you see a little sea breeze picking up in fairfield. i think the real headline is this tropical moisture coming up over the bay area. made for a fantastic sunset. sunday morning, there is a chance that we could see a few isolated showers. right now these are just high clouds. we got the radar and satellite up over the bay area and that's one of the reasons why our temperatures are up at this hour, we have this cloud cover hanging over us like a blanket keeping the temperatures up. san jose starting to see clearing and this moisture is coming up south to north out of southern california. we have another cutoff low pushing more mo

welcome to the special edition of nbc bay area news. supporters of the occupy movement in oakland are planning another major action this week. and you might just be surprised by what mayor jean quan had to say about the newest plans. nbc's bay area's alias. >> reporter: protesters have been working out a general strike planned for wednesday. it could bring the entire city to the halt. the plan is to march from city hall here to the port of oakland, with the goal of shutting down the nation's fifth-busiest port before the 7:00 p.m. night shift. activists say the strike is about the growing gap between the rich and the poor. they will also be going door-to-door, asking small businesses throughout the city to shut down for the day and join the movement. >> what we're looking at is one day of action to just voice a protest of a system that has been going on for decades and will continue to go on unless we put a stop to it. >> reporter: meanwhile, mayor jean quan's office released a statement in part saying that the strike will not affect es

the bay area is all about the winds. we're starting to see it shift more on the onshore direction in san francisco, that cooling wind. still out of the northwest here from the peninsula down to san jose. that will give us more clearer skies until 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. tonight, and then the low clouds return. the fog is well offshore here building up to 1500 feet. it will have an easy time coming back tomorrow morning. may have a few flight delays throughout friday morning. otherwise it's all about the warming coming into your saturday and sunday. high pressure from the south will build in, and pushing any storm activity well off to the north. you can thank high pressure for a sweet saturday and sunday coming our way. tomorrow morning we look at mid to upper 50s here to start, and then throughout 11:00 a.m., temperatures in the low to mid-60s here including san jose, livermore that we're tracking. there have been two aftershocks as we mentioned. there was a 1.8 at 3:09 this thaer afternoon and there's a 2.2. this earthquake
