so the radar is starting to line up around the bay area. ot so much around san jose but you can see light rain showers approaching marin county and into the north bay and some embedded thunder along the cold front which is offshore and notice these popcorn like clouds. that is some cold, unstable air aloft that's going to drive down our snow levels and bring us quite a bit of rain heading into tomorrow morning. so rain already starting to spread over the bay area. now notice the trend here into the afternoon. mostly in the south bay but if the cold air dropping in on the north side below could get some sleet mixing in some of those heavier showers for parts of the inland north bay areas, up to lake county as we start to head toward monday things start to dry off. above 2,000 feet tonight could get a little snow. as we head into monday storm tracker steers off to the north so monday, tuesday, and i think first half of wednesday is dry but then we'll see a little more rain coming in as we head toward thanksgiving. so tonight we'll see breezy c

nbc bay area employees spread out across the bay area to help collect food for those in need. we made it to about a hundred safeway stores and our goal was to collect at least 300 bags of groceries at each store. jessica was in pleasanton. i was out in orinda. there is jeff and dozens of volunteers helped out. thanks to the giant folks there as well. there's rob at the safeway store in danville with blue skies. together nbc bay area partnered with safeway stores and bay area food banks and so far we have collected more than 10,000 bags today. 17,000 bags since wednesday. >> well last year through our food drive and the partnership we have with you we've been able to give $130 million in products to needy food banks across the nation. we find that people really resonate with this. that they want to give back. especially at thanksgiving. you're doing your own thanksgiving shopping. you want to give somebody else a great turkey dinner. >> here is one thing susan didn't mention. this year we made it simple to help out with prepacked bags available for you to purchase for $10 but l

a long wind duration with the entire bay area under a wind watch and also a wind warning. the most critical areas will be regions in the hills, above 1,000 feet for the northeast and also the south bay for wednesday and also thursday, and -- and that includes the east bay. this is where we do think the winds will be ramping up the highest for wednesday and thursday with wind gusts that could even top 60 miles per hour out here at mt. diablo, so here's what we can expect with the winds. throughout tomorrow morning, starts to pick up. goes from breezy to windy by the evening hours for these hills. 20 to 40 miles per hour. then by thursday morning, that's when we do expect the likelihood here of possibly some power outages as we will have been under this wind that was sustained winds above 20 miles per hour for about well over a day or so, so for tomorrow morning, upper 30s and low to mid-40s and by 10:00 or 11:00 tomorrow, still on the cooler side with plenty of low 60s so the wind will be delaying us at the airport the next two days and then the system out here in the east a
