follow us on twitter: "at nbc bay area." new information tonight about the mendocino family that plunged over a cliff. toxicology reports show a glimpse at the hours before the crash. we now know that jennifer hart was drunk when she drove her car over a cliff last month. the report also shows that her wife, sarah, and two of their adopted kids had a sedative in their systems. the harts and three of their kids were found dead after the car plunged off the cliff. three other kids are still missing. however , a body was recovered last week, but has yet to be positivley identified as one of the missing childeren also in mendocino county ... the sheriff now says searchers have located an adult female in the eel river--which may be connected to a family who disappeared while traveling from portland to the south bay. the family is from santa clarita, in southern california. witnesses say they saw a car plunge into the roaring river last friday during a torrential downpour. some of the family )s belongings and parts of their car we

afternoon. 7-day forecast in the bottom of the screen, we'll have some 70s and 80s all around the bay area but as i head out for the morning commute around the east bay. it's going to be at 54 for the next few hours. by 8:00, we're at 57 and then a quick warm-up by noon. it's already 70 degrees and it will be a day you want to take a lunch outside. our highs today reaching into the low 70s in san francisco, and 74 in oakland and in antioch, 85 degrees, one of our warmer spots around the bay area, morgan hill up to 82. 82 in san jose. as you're getting dressed this morning, you do need layers and definitely need a jacket but later on it will be all about the t-shirt and shorts as we're feeling some summer-like weather and it will see a change in the pattern as we end the week. an area of low pressure moving in will change our wind and give us an onshore flow and that will increase the cloud cover. as of now watching a slight chance of showers for part of the weekend but really just keeping it out because we will mostly see dry weather around the bay area. slight chance for the north bay. lo

reporting live in san jose, christie smith, nbc bay area news. >>> a developing story we're following in the east bay now. the coast guard has called in helicopters to search for a missing boater in antioch. the missing man was in a fishing boat with a friend in the delta when the boat hit a wake. both men were thrown in the water. it happened about 9:00 this morning. one man was rescued by a nearby boat but the other still hasn't been found. the coast guard says the currents are strong in the delta right now, and there were a lot of boaters in the area due to a bass fishing tournament that's taking place there. it's unclear if the missing man was taking part in that tournament. >>> well, a cool and breezy day across the bay area and according to the script i have in front of me, it says a chance of showers in the forecast. now, rob mayeda joining us now. is this from a week ago or something? >> no. it's that carryover weekend trend where you keep having rain showers at times. right now if you look closely on the san francisco camera lens, yes, there is a chance of some brief passing

so let's talk about your daytime highs throughout the bay area. your 80s are forecasted for the south bay. take a look at this. san jose, 81 degrees. cupertino, 80 degrees, milpitas, 70 degrees, talk about a teaser to the summer around here. oakland, 72, walnut creek 82, danville, 83 and even along the peninsula, even though the breezy conditions will kick up into the afternoon, overall, the temperatures will be rather comfortable, 63 degrees for daly city and check out san francisco. some spots hitting mid 60s along the marina but take a look at mission. 70 degrees in san francisco today. you can see the winds right now coming up from the west at about 16 miles per hour. so not too bad out there. that nice breeze will help kind of ease some of those warmer temperatures. now, the north bay, 78 degrees for santa rosa, sonoma at 77, novato 79. so, perfect day to go hiking. now, if you had expected to kind of go after 10:00 a.m., i would say go before that. because it's going to warm up and it's going to warm up quickly. we started off in the 40s in t

nbc bay area's mark matthews there with an update mark? streets are open here, at 3:30, an officer in his mid 30s was buying sandwiches at the sandwich shop walking across the street to his car warparked. we have pictures of the car, white, crown victoria parked at the intersection. we want to show you pictures of the woman suspected of hitting him. this is a hit-and-run suspect. a woman appears in her 20s, 30s. she was stopped near 22nd and california. in the richmond district. about half an hour after this accident. now my colleague, tells me, the woman says she had no idea why the police pulled her over. she pulled over soon as they lit up the lights and sirens. her car, midnight blue or black, mercedes suv, matching the description of a car that hit the officer here at this intersection. just about a half-hour after the accident i spoke with lieutenant william escobar about the officer working plain clothes here in san francisco. he was working in a plain clothes capacity. he is here, possibly collecting evidence, prior to getting lunc
