the bay area, any point of the bay area we could see some of that rain coming in.of it up around clearlake and we'll see off and on showers. here lately we've started to see rain developing in the san jose area, moving over toward the willow glen, saratoga, and then moving just to the west of sunnyvale toward palo alto. off and on rain. we're only seeing that, as well, in parts of the south bay. but as it is still fairly dry in the tri-valley, we have a chance of showers and thunderstorms. if you're going to be out there, being active, it feels really humid even though our temperatures are slightly cooler than normal. so a look at our hour-by-hour forecast does show more activity developing going into the afternoon. parts of the tri-valley as well as the south bay may see showers and thunderstorms popping up. then looking at the next several days in morgan hill, it's going to start to get really hot. once that moisture moves out, our temperatures will reach into the mid 90s by wednesday. we're going to see those temperatures spiking by the middle of the week. thurs

we could have a couple sprinkles in the bay area. best chance is saturday morning in the north bay and along the coast. those showers won't last long. as this upper level storm system moves in, it kicks in a stronger onshore wind beginning tomorrow mainly after noon when the wind gusts in the inland parts of the bay area get up to the 15 to 20-mile-an-hour range, 25 to 40-mile-an-hour gusts along the coast and that onshore breeze will help start to improve our air quality. tracking just the surface level smoke with futurecast, tomorrow morning, very little change from where things stand now, basically the same concentrations of surface level smoke sending us into unhealthy air quality levels until later in the day. that's when some of that starts to get scoured out. as long as that fire is burning, the smith river complex, actually a collection of fires, still producing smoke. by friday morning i don't anticipate widespread good air quality over the next couple days. you can still see the haze on the horizon looking towards san jose.

bay area rain impacts, it doesn't look like heavy rain right now. we certainly would have the best chance of getting rainfall in the south bay because of how all of this is moving. last landfall of a california tropical storm or any tropical system for that matter since 1900 was back in 1939 near long beach. it just goes to show you how unusual it is to get something like this happening. i've got more details on the path, the timing and the rain here coming up in about a minute. let's roll it into our radar. we have thunderstorms over mt. hamilton moving to the north. expect the slight chance we could get pop-up thunderstorms in livermore, also through tracy in the next 30-45 minutes. tomorrow morning yes start off with fog. temperatures in the 60s from the south bay over to the peninsula. to the tri-valley, san francisco, 59 and for the north bay 58. daytime highs tomorrow, not too bad. at least it's not in the 100s. we'll get through this. 82 in napa, mid 80s in san jose. palo alto 82, san francisco 68. let's move it back into the tropical weather.
