bob redell nbc, bay area news. the teenager accused of shooting 49ers receiver ricky pearsall is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon. district attorney brooke jenkins yesterday announced the charges. she is still not ruling out the possibility of arguing to try the 17 year old suspect as an adult. pearsall was shot saturday afternoon in san francisco's union square and miraculously avoided serious injury. he'll be out of action for at least the next four weeks. 49ers general manager john lynch says pearsall must prioritizing returning to full health before he retakes the field. he's going to need that time physically. he's going to need that time. emotionally, mentally he was disappointed. but understood that we that we put him on on that list and what that entails. lynch also says pearsall felt well enough the night of the shooting to facetime his teammates during their annual preseason team party. well, now to decision 2024 and the race for san francisco mayor. the latest campaign documents indicate billiona

nbc bay area news. oakland city leaders say emergency calls to 911 should be answered more quickly, with fewer people being placed on hold now that the city has finally upgraded its 911 technology. the move comes after a series of reports by our investigative unit showing oakland's 911 system had the worst response times in the state. today, mayor sheng thao, the city's it director and a 911 manager, announced what they're calling the first major upgrade to oakland's 911 computer aided dispatch system in 20 years. the city council authorized this $12.8 million upgrade back in 2017, but the project has been plagued by problems and was blasted in two civil grand jury reports. one said if the city keeps delaying it risks catastrophic failure and dispatchers will be back to pen and pencil. today's development promises to be a step in the right direction. it's been over two decades since the last investment into our it infrastructure. you know, this takes not only the personnel piece of it, which is humans w

we're talking about upper 90s in some of the bay area off into the east bay with a return to the 70s along the coast. but that's not the case for us today. we're getting close to the end of summer and we're still holding on tight to more fall like weather. we're talking about 60s today in san francisco over into oakland, 80s today off into the east bay, where just yesterday we had 70 near antioch and livermore into the santa clara valley 70s match up pretty closely to what we have all the way up in the north bay to anywhere from napa over into sonoma. but some of our coastal areas are still dealing with light showers in the forecast this afternoon. very similar to yesterday with all those amazing clouds we saw in the afternoon hours as the sun started to set. so in total we could see a little bit of drizzle accumulate close to around 100th of an inch all the way over into half moon bay. the rest of us dealing with mostly misty conditions along the coast. drier conditions off into our inland spots. and i mentioned earlier, the wind speeds can get anywhere up to around 20 to 25mph. tod

jocelyn moran, nbc, bay area news.in the south bay, a series of break ins and the bar owners believe these crimes are connected. on monday, we told you about a burglary at a bar called the office in willow glen. since then, we've heard from several other bar owners. among those hit the park lane lounge in west san jose, where the thieves cost $30,000 in damage. the owner says the local bar community has compared surveillance videos. the group believes there have been about a dozen break ins and the same men are responsible. it's pretty detrimental. we just got this place open. we've been open three and a half weeks. same guys using the exact same tools, same orange crowbar, same under armor, backpacks. sj pd is on the case, but didn't say whether officers believe these burglaries are connected. traffic finally flowing tonight after a fiery big rig crash in san leandro. that big rig slammed into the center divide on northbound 238 just before the 880 connector. crews had to shut down 238 in both directions to get the tr

thom jensen, nbc, bay area news. thank you. tom. in clearlake, firefighters starting to gain the upper hand on a fast moving wildfire which has already destroyed at least 30 structures, many of them homes. the boyles fire started yesterday afternoon east of highway 53, quickly burned close to 100 acres. as of this morning, the fire was 30% contained. initially, evacuation orders were in place for more than 4000 people, and a temporary shelter opened at twin pine casino in middletown. we spoke with autumn lancaster, the lake county fire marshal, about the challenges crews are facing. we are under fire. watch as we were yesterday until wednesday for extremely low rh as well as moderate winds. yesterday it was hot, fire was established and brush, mostly manzanita and rh was extremely low in the teens at some point and winds were moderate. so same issues that were faced yesterday. firefighters are going to see today during a time we coined as the witching hour, which is in the afternoon. well, fortunately no injuries have been reported.

you can also search nbc bay area in the app store to download our nbc bay area app. a large homeless encampment near san jose international airport is coming down today. city crews started clearing the tents, cars and rvs. they say the encampments proximity to airport runways is a problem. nbc bay area's ian cull was there as it was happening. ian, what did you see today? yeah, so well, first off, our morning crew was out there as the clearing began around 7 a.m. and continued into the afternoon. at that encampment near 87, in taylor. crews were picking up trash, telling people living in the rvs and tents that they needed to leave. but this abatement is also different. they're only clearing an area around 40 acres of land that san jose bought with faa funds. the encampments on the other side of the street, the right side of your screen. those are not the focus the faa requires. the city to keep that land clear since it's under the flight path of sjc, and they don't want smoke from campfires or birds that are attracted to trash to interfere with flights taking off and
