when we look at the need for the shelter in the bayview there's clearly one. we do a bio analysis and what we found was we count both shelter homeless and unsheltered homeless so folks who are living on the street as well. we found for the first time there were more individuals living on the street - can i - there were more individuals living on the street in bayview we counted 12 hundred and 74 that's a point on would particular night in january. the second was was district 6. so what are the services when you're talking about street homeless. there are no shelters in district 10. the pro dense church has offered space in the evening hours. those are mats in the floor of a church. there's no meals or showers they pack up their stuff every morning pr the current 11 hundred beds we have 3 shltsz south of market and 3 in the tenderloin. there's 11 hundred shelter beds nothing permanent in the bay. you're going to hear about the array of services we have in district 10 we have some support of housing sites. but we don't have anything for being able used for singl

we have folks in bayview only talking with and a small corner of the bayview merchant quarter.e don't have people talking to the potrero hill association. all of these different fragmented conversations are happening. there largely talking about the same thing, crime, keeping streets clean, businesses, supporting small businesses, maintaining and making sure the city is livable for everyone. no one really looked to their neighbors. they stayed within their neighborhood, but did not reach beyond the boundaries. that is one thing i saw that i actually made a concerted effort on the campaign to build bridges. for me, that goes beyond the neighborhood. it goes to connecting the southeast to the large part of san francisco, wake up, we're out here. we want bike paths, dog parks, open space. we no longer want to have a neighborhood or a reputation of a crime-filled community. the other thing that i learned is really, we are all human. how to connect with that spirit, whether you're living in public housing, owning your own property, your asian, african american, we are all one. we ar

board of supervisors, i'm here to say that tomorrow i'm attending a funeral and i noticed in bayview, in that small area there is a lot of black men dying of prostate cancer. these contractors out there have refused to an abate the dust, the rest of them. the other day there was a meeting at my home where i asked the supervisors what can be done about this contract. if they were in a white community. they would not refuse to abate the dust. it's horrible out there in the ship yards. it's not all right. every week there are two or three black men dying from cancer. it's epidemic but no one wants to deal with it. what's confusing to me if those many white men are dying in the district or anywhere there would be something done about it. because we are black, no one wants to do anything about it. i'm bringing it to your attention, that in bayview, there are too many deaths of prostate cancer and also women having breast cancer and that's been going on for the last 5-10 years. but you won't do anything about it. i'm here to ask you can't you do anything about these contractors because it's
