becky quick is there again. i don't know how many years this has been, becky.ious, of course. but you have the highlights of that very important corporatinvn as well for us. >> i looked it up the other day this is the -- it was 12 years ago that i first came here. i guess this is about 13 times. maybe i missed one or two meetings in there, but it has been a while. this was big news today because berkshire hathaway was the biggest holder of ibm shares and buffett has been the biggest defender of ibm as it's continued to come in with quarter after quarter for 20 quarters in a row of declining revenue. in fact, that declining revenue is part of the reason that buffett decided to sell. >> it's based on a lot of different types of businesses but the earnings have been obviously disappointing. i mean, five or six years ago, i think they were earning 20 plus billion pretax and now it's $13 billion and the quality of earnings hasn't improved. it has been a period when i'm sure that it's been tougher than they thought and it's been tougher than i thought. >> now, if you

becky has some highlights from their conversation.ou guys covered a lot today. >> we did. the three of them happened to have a very deep and a very broad series of interests and expertise. we dug into a lot of different issues but one of the big topics that we touched on today was health care. it's not only important for consumers but for businesses. in fact, buffett says when it comes right down to it for american business, getting health care right may be even more important than getting taxes right. >> probably hear more from business leaders about corporate taxes. being -- causing them to buy with one hand tied behind their back in terms of foreign competition. corporate taxes as a gdp have gone down to 2% so they have been cut in half as a percentage of gdp, but health care has gone from 5% of gdp to 17% of gdp. and business pays a lot of the health care costs. >> of course, getting the health care system right, how you do that, well, that depends on who you ask. there are all kinds of opinions on how to do it. the house passed t

actually both, becky. the big large cap companies technology, pharmaceuticals but also look at some companies in india, south korea, mexico, brazil is a tough call here, it's a trade not an investment. i don't think the bottom's been reached here. there's good companies, particularly e-commerce companies like china you want to invest for the long-term. >> what do you think the prospects are for u.s. growth? we have a lot of moving pieces in washington right now, people kind of hoping on things. >> this year i don't know, 2%, 2.5%, we get escape velocity 3%. we still need infrastructure and tax reform which is a story for 2018. so we're there. but we're just muddling along. >> steven's looking at this from the perspective of the small and mid caps. and is concerned that the rally's petering out. what do you see for the broader markets? >> i think we're going to grind higher. 5%, 6% on the s&p energy comes back we might get some lift there. really, whether it's pharmaceuticals, industrials, i think it really

becky quick interviewed mr. buffett this morning following his company's annual meeting this weekend in omaha. >> there's a lot warren buffett says he doesn't know. he doesn't know where it will close a year from now and where interest rates are headed. but there's one thing he's certain about, and that is that stocks are a better investment than bonds. >> i would say anybody that prefers bonds to stocks is making a big mistake. i've been saying that year after year after yea now, i won't say that under all circumstances. but it is ridiculous, in my view, for somebody to buy 30-year bond, and some countries 50-year bonds and so on at these rates. in preference to buying stocks. stocks will bounce around a lot more, and they can go down 50%, but a 30-year bond can go down 50%, too, at these rates. bonds are a terrible choice against stocks. >> he also spent a lot of time at the shareholders meeting talking about a subject he rarely touches on, and that is technology. he says that amazon is a great company, but he

[ bells toll ] >> again, a moment of silence for the victims of the manchester bombing. political parties in the uk are expected to resume election campaigns this morning. new this morning the bbc is reporting that british police have stopped sharing information on the manchester bombing with the united states because of fears that leaks in the u.s. media could hinder the hunt for a possible bombmaker. at issue are pictures of the crime scene published by the "new york times," including photos of the remains of the bag that was carried by the suicide bomber. prime minister theresa may will raise the issue with president trump today. this is one of the most important intelligence sharing efforts in the world. the expectation is that this will not last for long. if you see the picture on the cover of the new york times this morning, this is what has caused some of that outrage. pi
