of trump administration officials continues tonight with housing and urban development secretary ben carson. he talks about president trump and his job at hud, but he also shares a bit about his life growing up. here's a look at some of what you'll see tonight. >> you had a violent temper. can you explain? >> i think because i was thinking about me. it was always about me. someone took my thing. they were in my space. you know, "i" -- and one day when i was 14 and another teenager angered me and i tried to stab him with a camping knife, unfortunately he had a large metal belt buckle on and the knife blade struck with such force that it broke. and, you know, he of course was terrified but i was more terrified because i was trying to take somebody's life over nothing. that had a profound e faffect oe and, you know, i locked myself in the bathroom and started thinking about my life. i had turned things around academically. i'd gone from a terrible student to top of the class. and i realized i would never become a doctor with a temper like that. i said my options will be jail, reform school, or

what secretary ben carson was getting at there is i guess for him to explain. >> okay.what about the fallout, which there's been a lot of, from the recent deal being made with the democrats, particularly on daca. it has some avid trump supporters burning their "make america great again" hats. what signal does this send to his base and to democrats? >> it makes him unique in the sense he's willing to be bipartisan, reach out and make these deals over the objections of his own party. to some degree, some people say that helps him with his base, with the base that wants to see him doing different things, taking on the republican establishment as much as the democratic establishment. but it definitely is a different approach to governance than we've seen in recent years. mitch mcconnell, the senate majority leader for the republicans, made it his mission to make sure that his entire conference was united against barack obama. he never allowed his members to negotiator compromise at all. and this is a very different turn of events. the democrats are basically saying we're go
