nbc10's matt delucia is live at the base of the ben franklin bridge in camdenton. tell us what you're planning this morning, matt. >> reporter: i spoke with camden county public safety officials earlier this week to get some more details about the planning that is going into all of this. their estimation is that 80,000 to 100,000 people will be walking over the ben franklin bridge to get into philadelphia for that papal visit next month. this bridge will be shut down during the papal visit and only pedestrian traffic will be allowed on it. this bridge is 1.8 miles long one end to the other and then you have to walk through the city, through the crowds and to your spot to see the pontiff and that can add up to about four miles by our calculation and that is not all. >> we have upwards, i think they are talking about 10,000 people an hour going over that bridge. it's a lot of people and, remember, they go over, they are going to come back. so there is two sets of tiers we have to be concerned with. >> reporter: as i mentioned earlier, my photographer matt and i will

the officers say a man and woman were riding bikes on the ben franklin parkway around 12:30 a.m. when the the car hit the woman at the intersection of the 22nd street. so far it is unclear who had the right of way. cyclist on kelly drive told us that riding at night comes with risks. >> i don't ride at night f somebody is there i just go. it is not that serious. >> reporter: one case of aggression was recently captured on camera, just this past thursday, the bicycle coalition of greater philadelphia a posted this go pro video from the helmet of the philadelphia cyclist. would the man said she was biking with her two children age five and seven in a cargo bike on south 11th street, when she encountered the vehicle blocking the bike lanes. after checking behind her and passing the vehicle, a man pulled up next to her and yells at the her using obscene language and guess tour. >> unaudible. >> reporter: coalition is working not only to reduce philadelphia's crash right involving bikes, but they have crept up in recent years but also to promote acceptance. >> we need to be, you know,

this morning, we are getting a look at the path they will have to follow to the ben franklin parkway. nbc10's matt delucia has been making that trek all morning for us. he started after 4:00 a.m. in camden. matt, where are you now and how is it going? >> reporter: right now, we are by the fountains at logan circle. we are getting a little bit more daylight out here. we started the journey at 4:30 and went over the ben franklin bridge and started our walk from the base of the bridge to where we are right now. it's been an hour and a half of walking and quite a bit of walking and a little more than a mile, i would say. you can see we are in the view of the basilica where pope francis will be giving mass on saturday, 26th. over here now we can finally see the art museum by eakins oval and where the pope will give his mass on the 27th. things we hope will never happen, the worst case scenarios. lease these public safety agencies have been making those plans from the very beginning once pope francis announced he was coming here. i asked the camden county sheriff's office if people need to

a lot of people want to know exactly what is happening with the ben franklin bridge. monique braxton is live for us in camden on the other side of the bridge. what will we learn today, monique? >> reporter: at 10:00 this morning, new jersey transportation officials are going to outline plans for the ben franklin bridge as you see here over my shoulder. we are hearing the plans will include a walking demonstration, the route from here in camden to philadelphia. the delaware river port authority is still ironing out all of the security and operational plans and tell us they are not expecting to address those issues today. but they do tell us things are moving along smoothly. and we do know that officials will stop construction on the bridge during the papal visit. no doubt that is getting a lot of yea's this morning. there are about 60,000 special patco passes still available for the 2 1/2 days the pope will be in town. no doubt when those plans are announced, you'll be the first to know it. live in camden, monique braxton, nbc10 news. >>> you can be the first to know a

this area along the ben franklin parkway, this will be heavily restricted as you mightç imagi.the mayor's office yesterday unveiled more of the city's plan to prepare for the papal visit. essentially these security perimeters will go into effect the night of thursday, september 24th. we did learn there will be a fence with entry points where people will have to walk through a metal detector and there will be no vehicles allowed inside that zone. the second, wider perimeter will be in place to protect the fence. vehicles will have to be removed and any vehicle that wants to go back in will have to be screened. as far as city government, thursday 24th through monday 28th. the city will operate essential services only. if you have any critical business or you have to pick up groceries or prescriptions, anything like that, get all of that done before that weekend. the city says the primary goal is to allow the 1.5 million or so people the ability to walk. where we are at the art museum, it's about five miles away from camden and new jersey has been putting together their own pope p
