here to discuss this with me is ben shapiro author of the book primetime propaganda the true hollywood story of how the left took over your t.v. then thanks so much for being here and what you're having now ok so obviously we showed a few examples here we have the sesame street the mary tyler moore show the single successful career woman that seventy's show you got a bunch of stoners galena now you have the gay character that singing about how you were born this way i understand how you could you could try to say that obviously there's a liberal undertones there but hey that's life right those are some of the people in this country that what's so wrong with representing that why do you think that there is some kind of deeper agenda that's needed to brainwash everyone you know there is a deeper agenda sometimes active sometimes passive people who i spoke to in hollywood admitted that yes we are trying to message our shows very often sometimes unconscious and hollywood is a liberal echo chamber everybody tends to think the same way they tend to hire their friends they tend to hire people

souls and make sure that you get your girls firetrucks you always knew something was up with bernie ben shapiro joins me now he's an attorney and the author of the new book primetime propaganda then welcome. i think so much for having me so how many children are subverted every year by sesame street. i don't mean that's really the question i think the question is why sesame street has any sort of agenda at all i mean this children's entertainment television and by the way i love the left's focus on sesame street in the book community takes up all of a page and a half they're currently ignoring the vast quantities of tapes have poured onto the internet of people in hollywood claiming that yes there is discrimination against conservatives admitting it celebrating it and people talking about how the message shows in particularly egregious ways but everyone wants to focus on sesame street so that's fine we'll do that you know let's let's go down that road the in rather you'd rather travel here you write the conservatives have to overcome a presumption this is your language to overcome a presumption

. >> host: this new book coming outs by ben shapiro. you are among the several programming executives. he makes the case there's not enough conservatives presented. do you agree with that charge on his part, and are you concerned that the gop has or the people that follow them might bring up this as an issue in the election year? >> guest: yeah -- i'm not sure i agree with him completely, you know, very specific view, and well, that becomes an issue, you know, it's hard for me to imagine with everything going on in the world that that's where folks focus, but only time tells. >> host: as we close since you're talking to c-span, telg me about your concerns about washington and how they affect your business or what messages you have for them. >> guest: oh, gosh. i'm not sure i have anything i would specifically say to washington except that, you know, it's a -- you know, it's a complicated era we're moving into in terms of the new platforms, disruptions, and all the issues, you know, facing us, and we've had a tremendous relationship, you

sean donovan ben bernanke, sheila behr, edwin dimarco john walsh and mary shapiro were challenged with carrying out and writing the rules of intent for dodd-frank. when they published a few weeks ago, about two months ago now the proposed rule and qualified residential mortgage, it created a firestorm and created a number of speeches on the floor of the united states senate. it also created a letter from 39 members of the united states senate which i would like to ask unanimous consent be included in the record. the presiding officer: without objection. mr. isakson: these 39 senators wrote specifically to these regulators to express their concern with the possible effect of the proposed regulation that the regulators were proposing on qualified residential mortgage. i am pleased to say that a few days ago the six regulators extended the comment period from june 20 now to august 1. i have not talked to them but i hope it's because they have been listening to the speeches, they have been reading the comment they have been seeing the testimony and they understand if left uncorrected and i
