tara moriarty joins us now from benicia. >> reporter: this sign says what has weighed upon many park goer minds for some time. park closed due to budget cuts. now a short-term plan has saverred this park from closing on monday. we don't know how long. 70 of california's 278 state parks have been slated to close july 1st in an effort to save $22 million. as of yesterday they signed 40 agreement with partners including nonprofit and local goths to keep the parks open. another 25 are still being investigated. the vallejo times is reporting city negotiations will continue over a short-term plan to maintain trash and other services. volunteers are collecting gate fees. because the park receives federal funding it has to remain accessible for pees. governor brown says it takes from other important purposes or many violate the states agreement. now if you would like to know the other areas that are in jeopardy of closing, benicia as we mentioned has makeshift plans to stay open for now. these others will shut down sunday. they are mineral and mining museum in yosemite area. gray whale cove.
