a lot of the small fires around the bay area like lafayette and out by benicia have been put to rest, but this big fire continues to burn and be influenced by the wind and the smoke plume that's traveling hundreds of miles. you can see it wafting out over point reyes. the winds are much less than last night at this time. this is the fire area. you can see which way the winds are blowing and where the fire is. so you know which way the fire is going to go technically. there's some canyons and drainages that will funnel the fire, but its energy wants to go towards healdsburg and windsor. last night it was the same thing. that's what was amazing to me that the firefighters were able to stop it before it got into the highly populated areas. the winds tonight much less, 21 miles an hour, 17 miles an hour. the winds are still swirling kind of coming from all directions. the general wind is north- northeast, but we are seeing much less wind. that's really helpful to firefighters. here's the piece that is the best i think. this is tonight. you see the winds dying down recall in the morning. l

oh you got benicia martinez i watch out there to you've got the winds now that are tracking up out of the southwest and so downstream is what we call the smoke and that's where it's headed in this location right to the delta be prepared to likely see that smoke now and probably the next couple of hours of smoke still a building from that fire and of course until that changes a fire gets put out more smoke is on the way so that's where it's headed now. here's latest forecast on some of the smoke and you can see as we take you a ough time here still al westerly direction but pretty light winds overnight tonight i wish it was a little bit stronger actually because that would help disperse that smoke a little bit faster but doesn't look like that's going to be the case through tomorrow morning. hopefully they'll have it out huh fairly shortly before that men by tomorrow evening. things begin to pick up a little bit as far as the winds are concerned but between now and then pretty light smoke, so that's not going to spurs much of the smoke in a hurry out there, but we do have a cold front
