this is the 33rd year for musikfest here in bethlehem and the fun is just about to get started. we'll give you a he preview of what festers can expect coming un. sallets. >> tomorrow we go from steamy to stormy. i'll tell was to expect in the accuweather forecast. >> ducis rodgers with sports when "action news" continues in just a moment. >> ♪ >> the stage is set and the crowds are ready for 10 days of music and fun in the lehigh valley. musikfest just got under way about an hour ago in bethlehem and "action news" reporter jeff chirico lie in the middle of the fun at the festival with more on opening night. hi, jeff. >> reporter: hi monica. things just getting under way. let's take a look behind me a few folks trickling in right now. things started -- the festival started at 5:00 p.m. you can seafood stands and rides for the kids, the zip line for kids and adults alike. lots of fun here to be had over the next ten days. the main draw of course more than a dozen music stages with hundreds of performers. >> ♪ >> reporter: straight from their "gma" performance in new york city this

the first alert weather team coverage continues with randy gyllenhaal, live in bethlehem where crowds of people are braving the heat and trying to stay cool at musicfest. how are they doing, randy? >> reporter: it is day seven of musicfest. like you guys mentioned, it feels like a hundred degrees out here. by far the hottest day yet. you've got to grab a couple bottles of water. you staying busy out here? >> definitely. >> reporter: you've got to stay hydrated. paramedics say they've had a number of cases of heat exhaustion over the past week. but they are concerned as this heat wave gets stronger, it could get even worse. dancing in the shade, anything to keep out of the sun as the band plays the motown hit heat wave. on point this week, feels like 100 out here at musicfest. >> a little hot. >> reporter: tough work for vendors like dan, spending 12 hours a day outside in front of a sizzling grill. >> one of the hottest years i can remember on record for musicfest. >> reporter: bethlehem ems on high alert all week patrolling these big crowds, looking for signs of distress. and already

chopper 6 hd was bethlehem pike just after day break. the power company was on hand working to restore power, there were detours around the site for a while but bethlehem pike is back open again. >> it was a stifling night of heat and humidity for firefighters answering calls during the night. "action news" reporter, john rawlins is live in south philadelphia with more on those problems. >> well, this was the scene of a two alarm fire sara, you are right, stifling is a gateway to describe the heat and humidity that all of us feel. but for firefighters they wear all that gear, you take it all together and it could be a challenge to do the job. >> this fire was discovered at 1:30 a.m. but after seven days of a heat wave it was not the cool of the evening that greeted firefighters that had to call a second alarm. the heat and humidity an cumulative factor for the firefighters at this fire says their boss. >> we had three all hands fires going across the city at the same time. this is going for more than a week, it takes its toll and it's ha
