as kpix 5's betty yu found out, the student accused of attacking two women is nowhere to be found. betty? >> reporter: that's right. the school says this student appears to have left the country after being banned from campus amid sexual assault allegations. san jose state university university officials say two students came forward to report a water polo player raped them over labor day weekend. the school says he maintained his innocence from the beginning. in september the san jose police department and the school's office started investigating after the first woman came forward. two weeks later another woman did the same. and the school suspended the athlete. he is not allowed to participate in any practices or go on campus property. >> it is sad because after the brock turner thing, there was a huge uproar. that is not okay. >> reporter: he says the school has made an effort to raise awareness. >> coming in to the school we go through orientation and tay talk the about sexual assault and -- they talk about sexual assault and going to parties and drinking. it is not okay. >> re

cbs5's betty yu was among them checking out the hardly strictly bluegrass festival. >> reporter: no doubt a huge turnout day one of the festival. some people told me they got here as early as 4 a.m. to secure prime seating. opening day at the hardly strictly bluegrass festival was about music and singing and dancing your heart out. now in its 16th year organizers predict more than 750,000 people to attend the free festival over three days. >> i live in the neighborhood. i wouldn't miss it. this is the best event of the year! >> for free this is outstanding. i'm so glad this gets done every year. >> reporter: festivalgoers can choose from seven stages and more than 100 artists over the weekend. we saw generations of music fans in the crowd and friends who made a road trip out of the festival. >> the best part about this festival is the community. it is people from ages 2 to 122 dancing and hanging out and playing together and everyone is cordial. >> reporter: the festival is made possible every year by warren helman's family foundation. the billionaire's son will also perform on stage. >>
