there's jeff bezos in the driver's seat getting ready with the team. of course he will not be part of this mission. we're now 41 minutes away from blue origin's second manned space flight. right now the four are set to launch into space. it includes william shatner there leaving the training center for the launch pad. it will not be long before they go past the final frontier. can you believe we're saying that for real? you can see them getting ready right here on your screen. you know, it's these minutes. i was there in july, and there's this sort of excitement but also fear. remember, they are going to be launching, people watch this rocket launch and then, you know, minutes later when suddenly it goes out of sight. there's that sense of panic, but you know, when you speak to anyone on the blue origin team, i spoke to mark bezos who was part of the mission over the summer in the last few days who said this is all about safety, safety, safety. audry powers is going to be part of this mission. she joined blue origin in 2013. she is in charge of this ro

there you see jeff bezos in the driver's seat.ext to him, i believe that's glen de vries, ready to go. kristin fisher is there in west texas at the launch site. a lot of buildup to this moment. did we know that jeff bezos was going to drive them? >> reporter: we did not. and, you know, one of the other things that we're watching right now is that the countdown clock has just hit a hold. unclear exactly why. you'll remember on sunday, blue origin announced there was a one-day delay due to high winds. we're in the middle of a desert here in west texas, wide open spaces. not a lot of rain, which is good. but there is quite a bit of wind. that wind caused one delay from tuesday to wednesday and then a second delay of about 30 minutes. so wind has been a big concern here. it is not too bad from what i can tell, where i'm standing, a few miles away from the laun launchpad, but certainly something to watch. i'm not saying that is the reason for this delay that we're seeing right now. this hold. but you can see the crew very happy, excite

people say why doesn't bezos do something else on earth? i want to focus on texas and florida and every place we have been blessed to set up operations to fly to and from. it's great for local economies and beyond. people may go there for those jobs. terry? >> to tom's point. the space shuttle flight cost a billion dollars but when he got into orbit we didn't launch them into space. >> we hope not. >> yes. there is a big reinvestment that space activity helps right here on earth. >> harris: i want to talk about what space does to the body. when you are 90, you are prepping for this. you are not flying with the blue angels every afternoon so you know how to clinch your teeth and what zero gravity feels like. i was a child of a combat pilot. what does it do for william shatner to go 62 miles up in the air even if it was only 11 minutes? >> well, the first thing is weightlessness. as soon as that engine shuts off you are floating. you can only experience that on earth for a few seconds if an airplane. that's unusual. i talked about this earlie

the other two are being subsidized by amazon or jeff bezos -- by blue origin or jeff bezos.to refresh again, what are we looking at? ed: on the left-hand side of your screen, you have the booster coming down to earth. we are approaching several minutes into the mission, and around the 7:30 mark, you will see the booster land. at the moment it is using aerodynamics. you can see they position the rocket to slow it down using earth's atmosphere, the atmospheric resistance, and when it reaches a few thousand feet above the earth, it will deploy those engines. you will see that any moment now as the engines reignite with a quick burst to slow it down. the clamps will then deploy on the bottom of the booster, and it will land on the landing pad. let's listen in for a quick second.
