bge's peak rewards program designed to save money for people on the hottest days of summer which are just around the corner but the program did cause problems. tonight gg reports the utility is now planning to test the system before summer strikes. >> reporter: when the heat is the highest bge goes to its emergency power cycling system that lets them shut off ac's to prevent blackouts. last year when temperatures topped 110 degrees customers in the peak rewards program complained, they were left in the heat, sweating for more than six hours. >> look at my face. i am sweating. >> reporter: this year before the heat hits the area they plan to test its peak rewards system on two separate day this is movement the utility won't say when. >> we don't want to say because if we pick a date or two and the weather is very hot that day we wouldn't want to do those. >> reporter: the perk is that customers get bill credits if they enroll. after last year's emergency shut off thousands dropped peak rewards, bge said they will test the system when most may be out. >> we wanted to stay away from the
