this was a point in blake's treatment where he was on life support.n. and i looked at my son laying on a table lifeless. but i continued to read to him every single day. and i wanted him to hear my voice every single day to know that i was still there. and the pwaobgtbooks, again, thd weren't what i needed in that very difficult moment. privately at night that is where -- that is the book that i was reading. and it gave me that hope to get to the next day. and it inspired me to believe that we were going to get through it. my little make is not here today. but after that stint on life support, we did have him for another year. and those are some of the most precious memories i have today. so that hope helped us to get to the next point. and those are the memories that i have in my heart today. >> it was an amazing comeback for blake. i remember you writing about it and having that year with him. this is about being able to keep fighting in his name. . >> yeah. yeah. so this book is a book about hope that any child can read, enjoy and be inspired by th

you have a divide right there on the courthouse steps, including justin blake, the uncle of jacob blake, who has been out here every day of the trial, even when temperatures were dropping into the 20s, he was advocating, saying he wanted justice for the family of anthony huber and justin rosenbaum. things are peaceful. we haven't seen any skirmishes. that has been a fare for so. . this is a town that went through a lot last august. not only this shooting but the reaction to the shooting of jacob blake. there are five schools here that have gone to virtual learning because of the fear of what could happen after a potential verdict. the national guard is on stand by. they've been standing by outside of kenosha, about 500 members of the national guard. there have been a handful of arrests throughout this trial and throughout the deliberations this. we heard from the count sheriff yesterday who said that things have been peaceful despite the fears and he hopes to keep it that way. we'll definitely watch for reaction, especially for the families of those two men who were killed, and i think

i know you wrote this while blake was undergoing some intensive cancer treatments.e you decided that you wanted to write a book? >> first off, thank you both for having me on here to talk about this issue that has now become such a important issue for me. pediatric cancer. victor, when we were in the hospital with blake, you know, every day when i think about just all that we went through with our strong warrior blake, i literally felt on days that i was harvesting hope. i was getting hope from a variety of places, even the sunrise gave me hope. but it was not easy, and i began to think that, you know, if we normalize teaching our children from a very young age just as we teach them reading, writing and arrh the golden rule, if we teach about this concept of having hope even when you're facing the most difficult circumstances, could it be that it might be a little bit easier when they're older like me and facing just a terrible life circumstance. blake loved to read, and i loved to read to him, and so i wanted to create something that had that message of that fighti
