blake mccoy, nbc news, chicago. >>> nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer is here with us keeping an eye on the blizzard and the next wave to come. what's it looking like? >> well, blizzard conditions are likely to continue across minnesota with some areas picking up 20 inches of snow. as the storm moves eastward we are going to see cold air cross over the relatively warmer great lakes. that's going to turn on the lake-effect snow machine. first across michigan on saturday, then through the eastern great lakes as we go into sunday and monday where we could see some significant snowfall totals, especially across upstate new york. so while we're looking at just an additional one to three inches through the upper midwest, the focus will shift to upstate new york where we could see more than a foot of or a foot and a half of snow, especially in syracuse and watertown. that will kick off what will be a very tricky travel week leading up to thanksgiving. another storm system develops across the rockies on monday. as this moves eastward we are looking for heavy snow through the upper midwest on tu

. >> blake mccoy, the commission finished up a conference call earlier today. they said as long as jill stein pays for it. the recount begins on december 1st, what more can you tell us? >> exactly, they're tallying up the cost but i can tell you is upwards of a million dollars. stein's campaign raised up to $6 million to fund these in three states. they do have the money to move this recount forward. >> the commission decided on a time line for this recount. as long as they receive the mumbai tomorrow, the recount will begin on thursday here in wisconsin and complete by monday. they are a week and a half to conduct this recount. it is a decentralized system here. each county is going to be conducting its own recount. stein's campaign has been pushing for this. >> they'll review the ballots by hand but counties are going to use tabulation machines to come up with the final tally just like they did on election night. stein is going to go to court to get a court order to force a true hand recount. that's something she feels strongly about. now, wisconsin's governo

nbc's blake mccoy has more. >> reporter: i'm blake mccoy here in syracuse, new york, where, look at this, they're getting a huge dose of wind. jolted by this. that's because as relate as friday and saturday, it was in the 60s. it went from beautiful to this in matter of 24, 48 hours. the snow has been falling since about yesterday afternoon. you can see how deep it is already, look at that. that's a good foot of snow already. and they're saying by the end of this snowstorm, 20 inches of snow is possible for upstate new york in and around the syracuse area. this is a very significant snowfall. and it is the first are the season. it's waking people up to the fact that hey, winter is coming here. of course monday of thanksgiving week is the start of a businey, busy travel week. we're keeping an eye on the airports. delays aren't too big of a concern, it's really the roads that are the issue, they are slick. we're seeing slide-offs, jackknifed semi trucks shutting down highways in and around upstate new york. so right now the roads are the biggest concern. as i said, 20 inches expected in pa

blake mccoy is in des moines for us this morning. blake, what else do we know at this point?> well, this is just a horrific double murder of police officers here in iowa this morning. authorities have worked very quickly to identify and apprehend a suspect. we can tell you that suspect has been taken noon custody. we to have his photo for you. scott michael green. 46 years old. of urban dale, iowa. authorities say leads and tips led them to identify green as a suspect and person of interest. they've not said yet if they're looking for anyone else. officers have been moving quickly here this morning. it was just 1:00 a.m. when they responded to a shots fired call in urbanle dale, iowa, that's w they found a police officer shot dead in the front seat of his car. about 20 miles away, they found another officer also shot dead in the front seat of his car. authorities say it does not appear whoever shot them had any contact with them before the shooting. they say this does appear to be an ambush-style attack. >> blake mccoy for us there, in des moines, where, again, a suspect, sco
