bill de blasio is mayor of this city now and a year ago it didn't look like he had a chance to becomecher. you never know. shifts change and happen. this was dramatic. what do you think happened? >> essentially with all due respect to marjorie, she isn't a very good candidate. the reason she lost in '94 other than the republican landslide was the fact that she dithered about her vote on the floor of the house and managed to be the last person to put the tax package over the top. you never want to be that last person because naturally you're going to be held accountable for it. she didn't seem to learn very much about campaigning in all of the years since. that's been 20 years. so i think that was part of it. another factor here. what do you make of that? >> it could be. endorsements often don't work very well. a lot of voters say thank you very much. i'll make up my own mind. you know, we've been treated to so much coverage of the coronation of hillary clinton. it's good to remember that actually the clintons are very human and they can lose races. they proved it last night. >> yeah.

when you think about charlie rangel, he should be speaking out about mayor bill de blasio who is tryingt the charter school program in new york city. the academy right there in harlem. not talking about the 12% unemployment rate. not talking about the g.d.p. growth which obviously means that there is definitely not economic growth within our inner city and urban environments. this is politics as usual. >> why do they do that? because everybody goes into politics whether you agree with a person. i realize some politics an awful long time and lose that thought, but, i mean, why are they doing that? >> it's it's very simple. because you have a constituency that is trapped on a liberal/progressive plantation of the 21 st century. they want to make sure that they stay there they want to make sure that they continue to demonize and castigate constitutional. irrespective of color or race or gender or any of those divisive factors that the liberals like to use because they are afraid of losing control and losing power. >> you know, every single group i have ever seen, both sides of the politica
