joining me to discuss the race is "atlanta journal constitution" reporter greg bluestein. georgia 6th. why is that such a big deal? >> no we don't usually talk about the georgia sixth. most people in atlanta would be, but trump's early struggles withs nationality story. fm. >> both sides of this? >> 14 million have already been spent on the advertising in this district alone, and jon ossoff has raised an unprecedented $8.3 million for a newcomer in a congressional campaign. he has flooded the air waves with ads and constituents have gotten two, three, four fliers a day. >> sreenivasan: well, georgia could be the one that flips back and forth. this is not a district that has ever trended democratic, at least not in the last three years. >> ossoff has won landslide victory after landslide vic city every two, three years. higher profile democrats i'm talking to but with, coupled with the $8.3 million he's raised and a surge of enthusiasm and there's clearly an enthusiasm gap and jon ossoff is in the 40s in most of the polls, within the striking distance of 50% victory that he

leland: back to greg bluestein. nice it would have you back.n, whether that would be on trump, in cap sass, mike pompeo's seat. we got not only the vice-president getting involved with a robo call, but the president trump tweeting out, telling them to get out to the polls, we needed, in president trump's words, that person in congress. are we seeing the same heavy weights showing up in atlanta that would give the indication at that republicans think this is pretty close? >> yeah, not yet. we've seen a ton of national money from republican national groups come in, so they definitely think it's close. the problem complicating it, there's 11 republicans in the field. so no one can-- big republican groups are wary of looking like they're supporting one of the 11 republicans and many of those leading republicans are fighting each other as much as ossoff. some of them are reluctant to even say donald trump's name and others are running as donald trump loyalists. it's making it hard for national groups or trump or pence to weigh into the race. leland:

we are joined by greg bluestein who is a political reporter for the atlanta journal. tell us about this election. this is a field where there are a lot of republicans and one democrat. guest: there is actually five democrats in the race but there is one who has rallied the support of the brunt of the democratic party. he is transforming this race because just a few months ago, he was not to be a sleepy all republican affair where a lot of people thought there would be an all republican runoff in the big topic would be trump. we were right about the topic being trump but we were wrong about it being an all republican affair. he has raised more than $8 million, flooded the district and thisrtisements, can be seen as an early referendum on fronts popularity. >> with 8 million coming for mr. ossof, where is the money coming for public and candidates? guest: the tremendous bulk of the money is coming from outside of georgia. ly one in 20 of john ossof's live in the congressional district and the same with the unsound -- outside spending from washington political groups. ve

who is political reporter for the atlanta journal , greg bluestein, tell us about this election. this is a field where there all are a lot of republicans running and one democrat. >> there's 18 candidates, five democrats in the race but one whose rallied the support of both the democratic party, that's jon ossoff. he just transformed this race that a few months ago was thought to be weeping all republican affair where a lot of people, all republican runoffs and the topic will be trump. we were right about it being trump, we were wrong about it being at all republican affair. jon ossoff has raised $18 million, policy groups and he is seen as an early referendum on trump's popularity. >> we expect 8 million coming for mister ossoff and where is the money coming from for the republican candidates? >> the bronze, the tremendous bulk of the money is coming from outside georgia. one, only one in 20 of jon ossoff's 2000 donors live in georgia in the actual congressional district and the same thing with the outside spending from national washington groups, from washington political group
