"today in the bay's" bob redell is live outside of city hall.his means mayor lee will have a promise he made when he took that job. >> reporter: yes. he pledged not to run for a full term when he was appointed interim mayor in january. in about 3 1/2 hours inside the department of elections in the building behind me in city hall interim mayor ed lee is expected to break that promise, file papers and announce his candidacy, ending weeks of speculation of will he or won't he. in an interview lee acknowledged that thinks back pedalling might be hard for people but he believes he is doing what is best for the city. at least one city supervisor is not happy with his change of heart, noting that's why she voted to appoint lee as interim mayor, because he promised not to run, a vote she now appears c 1:regret. lee says he will sit down with the supervisors who don't agree with this decision and try to explain himself. he might be asked to do that tonight at the castro theater with the nine other candidates, some of whom are on the board of supervisors.
