bob redell is joining us live from pacifica. bob, i think it was about 25% left going in today. how's the progress coming? >> reporter: well, sam and laura, the 20-unit apartment complex that used to stand here overlooking the pacific ocean you can see is no more. demolition crew working on behalf of the city started taking down the structure on saturday. the workers hope to have this plot of land leveled and cleared by tomorrow or wednesday, depending on the weather. you might recall the city red tagged and evacuated this apartment complex back in 2010 as the cliff began to erode and part of the apartment complex teetered on the edge. this property was supposed to come down much sooner but its owner declared bankruptcy and hasn't been able to pay the roughly $200,000 in demolition costs, which the cityopes to some day recoup on behalf of taxpayers. so the demolition crew will take out the rest of the wood structure, the walls and that sort of thing and leave the foundation in place to help stabilize this until the city can find a permanent solution. >> we've been in talks with
