nbc area's bob riddell live in d dublin this morning where one of the suspects appeared. bob, tell us about this legal process. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, sam. we just talked to windham latham. he is one of the suspects in chicago. it's he bebeen scheduled for 9: now rescheduled for 2:00 p.m. he is expected to be arraigned on charges that he killed quentin cornell duranlo. he was stabbed inside chicago's downtown apartment. latham, who was a student in downtown chicago university and another man are part of a manhunt that criss-crossed across the country. the other suspect, andrew warren, who is a payroll worker at the university of oxford in england, he surrendered to san francisco place. law enforcement believes latham was in a personal relationship with his victim, but they have not released a motive. it's not clear what warren's relationship is with either of the men. he came to the bay area to be with family and friends, some of whom are right here inside the courthouse, and since his arrest, many have written letters expressing their support for him. >>

bob riddell joins us at the apartments. everyone wants to know, how does a toddler end up alone on the streets? >> reporter: that's a question police are still trying to answer. good morning to you, kris and sam. police tell us they received a call around 9:20 this morning from someone near the home where this boy lives. that was after he was found in the woods of an apartment complex in san jose. police are now questioning the boy's guardian to find out what happened. the violence unit is also getting involved. it was around 3:00 this morning that a couple living in this apartment complex found the boy wandering near the woods by the complex. he tells us the boy at the time was covered in mud, was only wearing a diaper. the couple gave him a little sweater to keep warm. police arrived. they took the boy to the hospital for a medical evaluation to make sure he was okay, and then they turned him over to child protective services. they also looked for the boy's parents, to no avail. the security guard said the boy speak to th
