a tragic accident claimed a toddler's life in bowie today.ng across a busy street with her grandmother when a van hit them on route 197 and old chapel road. surae chinn reports from bowie. >> reporter: the father was getting an oil change at this gas station across the street, never thinking he's going to lose his daughter today. the raw emotion brings this father to his knees. he describes to a relative how he saw the accident that took his precious child. >> she was a sweet little girl. her mom loved her and the grandmother and everybody, and she was just a sweet little girl. and she's going to be missed. >> reporter: the 2-year-old and her grandmother went across the street to the cbs at bowie plaza to kill time waiting for the oil change. they crossed busy route 197 and bowie when a van on old chapel road made a left turn crashing into them. >> it's a shame. it's a busy little intersection, this one and the one before it with no light. but it's a shame. >> the look on everybody's face, i know the mechanic said he went over there to try to

reporting live in bowie, mike conneen, abc 7 news. mauree within the past year abc 7 has reported on the arrests of three off-duty prince george's county police officers on assault charges. in two of those cases, investigators say the officers pointed guns at the alleged victims. abc 7 asked state's attorney angela alsobrook about those arrests and she says the arrest of three officers out of 1700 is not an epidemic and officers are saving lives. a former f.b.i. agent is expected to plead guilty to obstruction of justice and drug charges. matthew lowry is facing a 64 count indictment. he was found unconscious in an f.b.i. vehicle near the navy yard in september. lowry reportedly overdosed on drugs seized as evidence. prosecutors have dropped drug charges against 28 people because of lowry's alleged evidence tampering. only on 7, a warning after five violent daytime muggings in northwest washington neighborhood. the attacks all happened in the area around vermont avenue between 10th and 12th streets in the shaw neighborhood. four of th
