that six-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital. the six-year-old in a hospital bed, his face cut up, looking sad tonight. understandable after a horrifying morning walking to this large raccoon ran up behind him and attacked. a number of witnesses frantically called 911. >> a little kid was attacked by a raccoon. guy jumped out and killed the raccoon. >> his face was messed up. he has a lot of cuts on his face. >> reporter: the child fell into the show being mauled as his mother screamed for help. danny walls was leaving for work, jumped out of his truck, grabbed a painter's pole and ban to beat the animal saving the day. >> i broke his rib because he kitnd of yelled. after that i continued to hit him until he let him go. and i killed the raccoon. >> the boy was rushed to the hospital with severe cuts to the face. >> he had cuts on his face, not just cuts, rips. >> reporter: bergen county reported finding 11 rabid raccoons in 2015. had to be rabid. >> another witness said the raccoon ran across the street and just attacked the kid.
