and then there's also the boysen fire wh bob redell. he's live for us in santa rosa off of highway 12. i know you've seen fires sprout up all over the place. so talk about what's going on where you are now. >> reporter: well, marcus, firefighters were afraid that the shady fire would come down the hills, cross highway 12, and start burning through these residential areas of east santa rosa. and unfortunately as you can see behind me, that's what it did. it burned up brand road. this is on the south side of highway 12. and it burned at least -- well, let's just put it this way, several structures. this might've been a business and there are some homes up here, probably six, seven structures are just gone. this was the scene overnight just down the street from where we were at. the fire came close to burning down another house. petaluma fire department, which was assigned to thisotected the couldn't. they ran out of water and there were no fire hydrants nearby. when they returned the house was still standing and they kept it from burning
