and then there's also the boysen fire wh bob redell. he's live for us in santa rosa off of highway 12. i know you've seen fires sprout up all over the place. so talk about what's going on where you are now. >> reporter: well, marcus, firefighters were afraid that the shady fire would come down the hills, cross highway 12, and start burning through these residential areas of east santa rosa. and unfortunately as you can see behind me, that's what it did. it burned up brand road. this is on the south side of highway 12. and it burned at least -- well, let's just put it this way, several structures. this might've been a business and there are some homes up here, probably six, seven structures are just gone. this was the scene overnight just down the street from where we were at. the fire came close to burning down another house. petaluma fire department, which was assigned to thisotected the couldn't. they ran out of water and there were no fire hydrants nearby. when they returned the house was still standing and they kept it from burning

firefighters battling the boysen and shady fire. the shady fire is one destroying so many homes this morning in santa rosa. thank you for joining us this morning. i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. we'll get to kari and mike in moments. mike has a great look at areas you should avoid and kari is telling us about the hot conditions that will continue. let's check in with bob redell this morning live along highway 12 in santa rosa. remarkable stories of people there. bob? >> reporter: we're now half a mile south of highway 12 in an area the fire department was trying not to let burn, where you have a lot of homes. these are some of the homes they were not able to save. the fire started north of highway 12. the idea was that highway 12 was a fire break overnight. the fire crossed over and burned up the hill where you can see here. i count one, two, three homes -- actually four. one some sort of structure i believe is a home that went up overnight. the one to the right went up in flames. the problem up here is you have wind

fires burning across parts of napa and sonoma counties, the glass fire burning near napa valley the boysen fire near saint lena. and the shady fire in sonoma county together those fires have burned more than 36,000 acres. and our at 0% containment 50,000 people have been forced to flee their homes due to this wildfire in parts of sonoma county napa county they are under evacuation orders tonight. including what we have been told us the entire city of calistoga so certainly if you need to leave that area, the open evacuation routes include route 29 south and north along with one 28 north for more on the evacuation orders for sonoma and napa counties we're joined by kron four's jonathan mccall johnson, the largest of those evacuations 68,000 ordered so far for folks in sonoma county want to show you the map of where things stand right with those evacuation orders you can just in the last few hours from when we last saw you for kron 4 news at 6 o'clock we've seen. >>evacuation warnings now being closer to an area near santa rosa we've been talking with cal fire officials all day long and they

for joining us here on kron 4 news at 9 i'm justine waltman i'm jonathan mccall those fires are the boysen fire as well as. >>as well as the last fire and also the shady far those 3 fires now burning areas near napa in the sonoma county line. the biggest fire though that we have been following for you all day long as the glass fire which started this morning. this blaze. so far has scorched more than 2500 acres and is that 0% containment. this fire is burning east of saint helena and calistoga in napa county. >>so there are believed to be these 2 new spot fires that have popped up since the glass fire started at around 4 o'clock this morning that are now burning near the napa sonoma county line this time lapse video shows us just in the past hour how fast. they have spread how quickly they have erupted. now according to state senator mike mcguire cal fire and local firefighters diverting resources from the glass fire so they can now contain all of the new blazes that have popped up again that's the shady fire and the boys and fire. he along with other fire officials are saying that people

those shady fire which we were just talking about a second ago is on your right the boysen fire in the middle in the glass fire on the left side of your screen. this is all happening in an area right the sonoma county napa county lines that shady fire is and obviously as we've been telling you about the glass fire. still 0% containment. what we've learned about the shady fire. so someone saying it appears to be more than a closer or close to 50 acres but saw some of the fire crews who are on the glass far just one from people are telling me on twitter some people are some of the fire crews who have been on the front lines of the glass fire are now leaving their to trying going tackle the shady fire to make sure that it does exploding get out of control. but as you can see right there that is the situation. that fire crews are up against tonight as they battle those fires county sheriff's office is also put out an evacuation order for saint polina road and most almost road. >>they're saying that there 2 fires now on lena road. so there's an evacuation order for a few different spots wil
