alvin bragg finally spoke out about the migrants who attacked the n.y.p.d.many who were released without bail. they're believed to have fled to california as authorities are trying to track down at least several more migrants who might have been involved in the attack. cb cotton is here now with more on this and a lot of people are following this story. what's the latest? >> hi, anita. well, bragg did speak, but his answers will not likely satisfy those who are angry about this situation, five migrants each charged with a bail eligible offense, but still allowed to walk right back on the streets. bragg said assaults on police officers are not tolerated here in manhattan, but in this case, as prosecutors needed more time to specify each person's role in the incident. >> the important thing is to hold the right people accountable for the right conduct. this is a bedrock principle of our justice system. >> bragg then pointed to defendant brito, the sixth suspect detained and arrested in this case the only one given cash bail. and bragg alleged brito who the lar

the outcome of bragg's case could add to that, and it won't be the end. the hush money trial is expected to last about six weeks until about mid may, and then it's possible that another one of trump's criminal cases will be ready to proceed to trial as well. joining me now is that democratic congressman jamie raskin of maryland. he said served as the -- second impeachment of donald trump. it is also a member of the january six committee, he's the ranking member of the oversight and accountability committee, congressman raskin, thank you for being with us today. >> delighted to be with you. >> give me some perspective on this. obviously there are lot of americans that believe that -- related to the election is when the most serious thing, and they would like to see him held accountable for that before the next election. but all these cases, the drip drip drip of being donald trump found liable or responsible by judges and juries does whittle away at him, at least of circles. >> the bottom is falling out on his legal cases because there are actual standards

bragg asked that their addresses, the jurors, be kept secret from the former president.owed to know the jurors' names, but he doesn't want donald trump and his team to know where they live. >> yes, but the fact that they're allowed to know the names is different from what we have seen. in the e. jean carroll case, both cases, actually, the juries were fully anonymous. not even the lawyers knew their names. in new york state, a defendant has a statutory right to know the jury's names. they're counter balancing that here. the reason that alvin bragg has asked for a gag order about the jurors is because trump has a statutory right to know their names. that wasn't a danger, and the two prior federal trials about e. jean carroll, no one knew their names. the other thing i want to point out is alvin brag has asked for protection for his staff, his line prosecutors. that's an issue because trump has gone after at least one of them by name. there's a gentleman who is one of the lead attorneys on alvin bragg's team, he has spent time in the biden department of justice. trump has

now, one of the problems for bragg is that the georgia case is the most similar to his. these are both state-level prosecutions brought by elected district attorneys, and they focus on allegations of election interference. so depending on what happens down in georgia, even if willis isn't disqualified, i mean, it's a messy situation. it is a spectacle. this could be something that he has to ask potential jurors about. have you seen this? what do you know about it? what do you think of it? doesn't mean that he can't win his case, but this could be a factor in that difficult task. of jury selection. and erin, it's just a reminder that what happens down in georgia has a ripple effect on these other cases. not only actually in the courtroom, but also in the court court of public opinion, which is of course where candidate trump is most worried. >> absolutely. and the forearm that matters so much and all of these cases to for these juries, paula, thank you very much, paul, of course, in new york where that hearing was today. and of course, everyone's back with me now. so dary

so i think if i were being prosecuted by alvin bragg, i would be very concerned.you remember, he was criticized for not bringing cases quickly enough. then he did bring the cases, which means that he was convinced that he had a solid case. if weisselberg comes and begins to cooperate with the fraud case, that has already been determined in the state attorney general's favor, we just don't know the penalties, but certainly weisselberg can add to whatever the judge is considering there. that only strengthens the hand of whatever the outcome of the damages are in the fraud case with the attorney general, and it strengthens bragg's case if, in fact, weisselberg is brought into court. so i think that donald trump is seeing the wagons circle around he and his attorneys. >> there's been an evolution in how this case has been presented. i want you to listen to what bragg said about the case from a radio interview back in december. >> the reason it becomes interesting, andrew, which it fits much more neatly in the entire bouquet of challenges being brought to donald trump.
