valerie bragg is live with the very latest. valerie. >> reporter: mark, i have been in contact with sheriff taylor throughout the day and as of case. if you remember last week, there was law enforcement all campus. they set up a barricade out front and not allowing anyone unauthorized to come on to their campus. today looked like any other normal school day. classes were back in session as usual. we did see a car drive through campus while they were there. when i asked sheriff taylor today if they received any leads about this threat, he told me his department is following up on several, and this investigation is still very active. now we are not being told what exactly the threat is. the sheriff taylor did say last week that he is confident his office has to stop this threat, and he assures the community about a quarter of hargrave's students remain on campus throughout the weekend with no incidents reported to us. we will continue to stay on top of this case and bring you the latest information as we get it. live, valerie bra

valerie bragg got reports of funnel clouds come in. what can you tell us about your area? >> reporter: i am in danville and the wind has started to pick up. just a few moments ago i felt like i would be blown off my feet and i have been in contact with all the emergency service coordinators here on the south side. i got off the phone with the chad loftis and he tells me that right now 250 people in halifax county without power tonight, and he said there are no downed trees right now in the roads or there is no damaged homes reported because of this. that is the good news. in danville, we did have one report of a tree that hit a home on fair mount circle. luckily that tree did not go into the home, but took a good chunk out of the corner. neighbors on the scene say no one was home at that time. and another downed tree near 58 east on mountain hill road. that knocks off power to another 500 customers. i also went to the scene of a downed tree nearing nursing home in chatham. as you can see, it fell on to the power line and caused that to smoke. crews are working to get power

a fort bragg soldier running into a burning apartment to save a fem family. this is unfolding right now off cliffdale road in fayetteville. reporter: good evening. the good news is, everybody got out of the three-story apartment building here. the bad news is, a lot of them had to stand around for about an hour and a half shivering in the cold while fire officials cleared the building. let's show you some video. this is eyewitness video taken fire can be seen leaping over the roof of the building. firefighters tell us that they suspect the fire may have begun in a back balcony of apartment 304, on the third floor. but it quickly spread to the roof line and got up in the roof and started filling apartments on the third and second floor with smoke. they were quickly able to knock this fire down. the apartments on the lower floors did have some extensive smoke and water damage. they're trying to assess that right now. as the fire burns, the residents who smell the smoke ran out, started beating on their neighbors' doors to get everyone out. a fort bragg soldier
