flanked by the mayor, top police brass and law enforcement officials, commissioner bratton says there are no specific, credible threats about the times square celebration, but due to the recent terror attacks elsewhere, they're ramping up security. >> more police that will have, i think it's about 6-800 additional officers over and above what we've had. you'll see many more with the heavy equipment, the long guns that they refer to, the helmets, etc., that will be as the chief mentioned at every checkpoint, those types of capabilities will be there. >> the number of k-9 patrols is being increased, and there will be hundreds of specially-equipped officers from the newly-formed counterterrorism critical response command that will be stationed at key locations. plus, there will be a constant presence of the nypd's elite emergency service unit. department will be out in force. there will be a tremendous number of officers who you will see, there will be many officers you won't see. there will be obvious security measures you will see and a number of measures you won't see. >> now, there's
