monique braxton is leave at the courthouse in norris town. tell us about the potential charges, monique. >> reporter: montgomery county district attorney has been viewing this case here at the courthouse now for about six months. the investigation into pennsylvania's attorney general kathleen kane centers around her alleged role in leaking information about a 2009 grand jury investigation to a newspaper last year. she is also accused of allegedly lying about it under oath. kane, the first democrat and first woman to be elected a.g. has denied any involvement. however, back in december, a grand jury recommended kane be charged with perjury and other offenses. now the grand jury's report has then handed over to the montgomery county d.a. furman. we contacted furman who is seeking a judgeship but she would neither confirm nor deny the report that kane will be charged today. now well, of course, stay on top of this story. make sure you download the nbc10 news app and also go to nbcphiladelphia.com for any updates on this investigation. live now o

"nbc 10's" monique braxton is live in philadelphia's bustleton neighborhood. monique, i understand you have more information about some of the injuries out there. >> reporter: that's right, rosemary. i just talked to the fire chief and he tells us the one person who was taken to a local hospital to be checked out suffered from smoke inhalation appears to be in good condition. can you see the ladder truck next to one of the buildings here. firefighters are using that to take an above the ground look at the hot spots and see if they need to go back in and douse some of those areas. our camera was rolling moments after firefighters arrived here at beachwood apartments about 2 1/2 hours ago. the fire chief on the scene tells us two dozen people fled after the smoke alarm went off, then they started calling the fire department. we captured video of one firefighter receiving oxygen here at the scene. he was not taken to the hospital and has been, what they call, recycled back in to firefighting duties. now the fire marshall is sifting through the rubble at this hour

monique braxton is live in overbrook with more. >> reporter: hi rosemary. ago detectives released her name and they tell us why they believe she was targeted. they say she was shot in the neck while out back here. they also tell us that even though she suffered an extensive injury, she managed to call 911. she's in critical condition and in surgery. along with fellow merchants, we watched here at hverford avenue detectives marked three shots on the owner of the overbrook bakery shop. she was out back smoking, according to police. she was unable to speak but she did tell them two people snatched her apron, holding money, while she was outside smoking. they tell us it happened just before 6:00 this morning. investigators also say there was an attempted robbery here at the best cake bakery about a week ago. they believe it is someone who knew the baker's routine. >> we think the person is involved close by. >> reporter: talk about her injuries. >> the bullet goes into her neck, goes through her airway and is currently lodged in her spine area. >> reporter: mer

nbc10's monique braxton is live at montgomery county emergency operation center in eagleville. what's happening there today, monique? >> reporter: hi, chris. montgomery county leaders tell us they actually began having discussions about emergency preparedness right after the church massacre in south carolina. about two dozen pastors heeded the call this morning regarding what to do when there's an active shooter and other dangerous situations. there are also concerns, given the upcoming papal visit and the estimated millions expected. the fbi told the leaders that between 2000 and 2015 there have been six murders in houses of worship. there are no threats but they want their pastors and those to be vigilant. >> be aware of your surroundings. make sure you question anything that's suspicious or anybody that's suspicious, any activities or that. the best way to report that is through the 911 system. >> reporter: those who came here today also saw a video presentation of an active shooter situation. the pastors were told what to look for in a threatening individual. and then how t

in west philadelphia, monique braxton, "nbc10 news." >>> a shooting at a philadelphia bar left one man in critical condition, another facing charges and several customers shaken after a close call. police say two men got into a fight at the last shot in port richmond. they went outside, one man pulled a gun, shooting the other man three times. the victim ran back into the bar and police say the suspect fired two more shots, barely missing other customers. police arrested the suspect. >>> a man is dead after a crash ripped a car in two in burlington county. happened on route 130 and beverly road. police say the car hit the utility pole, shredding the car in half. a 22-year-old man died. another person that fr that car was flown to the hospital with significant head injuries and broken ribs. route 130 northbound is now reopened after being closed for several hours. >>> skyforce10 was over a rowhome fire in nicetown. crews put out that fire around 9:30 this morning. initially there were reports of people trapped inside the home. the good news is everyone made it out safely. >>> skyforce10

. >>> monique braxton is live in center city. you got a tour of the centers that will be set up. >> reporter: the american red cross is looking for 1200 people for what they're calling a massive volunteer effort. we went inside the red cross nerve center where american red cross volunteers are answering the phone and checking websites for those who want to visit during the papal visit. the american red cross will assist families who become separated or lost in the crowd. they will also oversee medical staffing of other emergency personnel in town should something happen during the world meeting of families and when the pontiff speaks. >> prior to the pope coming to town, there will be 8,000 volunteers, predominantly first responders. there will be firefighters, police officers, emts, so they will be coming to town to support this event. we will take care of them. >> reporter: now, the american red cross also tells us it will be setting up ten shelters across town. they showed us boxes of up to 500 cots and pillows packed away tha

nbc10's monique braxton is live in white marsh with the details. >> reporter: hi, tracy. what happened here inside ft. washington state park is a mystery still unknown. a lot of questions for investigators. montgomery county's coroner will perform an autopsy today to determine what caused the runner's death. now our camera was rolling late last night when the missing man was found down a 20-foot ravine in high brush near railroad tracks. white marsh township police haven't released the runner's that i am but they do say he is in his mid-20s. we have also learned the unidentified man was running with friends when he disappeared. those friends notified police. it took a search party a few hours to locate him. police also tell us there was no sign of trauma or injury to his body. police say he may have become disoriented due to the heat and fallen down the ravine. as soon as we know the exact cause of death, we will have that for you. live outside ft. washington state park, monique braxton, nbc10 news. >>> chase utley, arguably one of the greatest second baseman in phillies
