incom nbc 10's monique braxton is live with more. this is a tough day for the firefighting community and first responders. >> reporter: that's right, vai. a solemn show of support as they begin the painful process of saying goodbye to a fallen colleague. the families of the firefighters stand at attention as the coffin of christopher leach is driven on an hearse. we saw hugs and tears as these public servants grieved for their fallen brothers. they're saluted after both died when the floor collapsed while they were battling a blaze early saturday morning. a family of six escaped intense flames. the firefighters didn't know it. two of their colleagues are in critical but stable condition. two others were treated for their injuries and released. now, days of final tribute are officially under way as two funerals and burials approach. just moments ago i did talk to the fire chief. he told us he's planning an afternoon press conference to discuss the latest on the investigation into the cause of the fire and hopefully funeral details. li

monique braxton from wcau has more. monique, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we learned one woman has died. she was shot in a car outside a bar. right now, two police officers are recovering here one of them worked for the university of pennsylvania. you can see that officers have arrived to visit them. just after 11:00 friday evening, chaos in the streets of philadelphia. police say sergeant sylvia young, 19-year veteran with the philadelphia police department was in her patrol car when she was ambushed. she was shot eight times. mostly in the left arm. police say her bulletproof vest starting a manhunt. he shot randomly in a local bar striking a security guard in the leg. using a patron as a shield and possibility a hostage. the police chase continued. at one point, the angry suspect shot into a stopped car with a man and woman. each hit in the chest. they were taken to 10 where the female victim was pronounced dead. the male victim remains in critical condition. 56-year-old eddie miller, university of pennsylvania police officer, who retired from philadelph

nbc 10's monique braxton is live outside police headquarters this morning. us through what we know happened.ç >> hi, tracy. i have been sticking with police overnight. we learned that homicide detectives have been interviewing witnesses upstairs on the third floor. they're also working to determine a motive. our camera was rolling around midnight here in the 6,000 block of van dyke shortly after police arrived. a wissinoming family found their loved one in his early 30s on the floor in the doorway. witnesses tell police he had just stepped outside to smoke when a gunman walked up and shot him multiple times. >> he was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, the abdomen and both of the legs. now, based on ballistic evidence, we know that at least ten shots were fired from a large caliber semiautomatic weapon. >> reporter: investigators also say police rushed the man, they're not identifying to temple university hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 12:30. we also learned police are hoping that surveillance cameras posted on homes an
