brendan greeley.arris.ith maury let's talk about how to make and use forecasts. one of the chief development is that the fed's forecast have been consistently wrong. they've been estimating mournfully -- inflation that has been happening. broken in the way we look at economic forecasts? maury: i think what happened was missed many forecasters the impact of globalization. you have a much more competitive global economy. also, it is very hard to forecast the dollar. once you have the stronger dollar, that was going to contribute to less than expected inflation. the other thing that has happened on inflation, if you get beyond the core inflation and look at overall inflation, who knew that oil prices were going to go from over $100 $230 $30?wo under brendan: this talk about globalization. -- let's talk about globalization. you are saying that labor can move elsewhere. it is difficult to create inflation in wages the way it worked in the past. maury: you've got more competition from foreign labor. case in

brendan: i do. that we are taking on a lot of credit in emerging markets, private companies in emerging markets are taking a lot of dollar denominated debt. this is a problem we have been watching and i think we have a chart. as early as 2000 14, they actually surpassed in terms of gdp the percentage of the dollar-denominated debt they are taking on. he continued to go up, so we see that as a risk, but he pointed out that there is a vicious circle going on, which is the ,ollar-denominated debt commodities collapsed, affecting the gdp of the countries, making currencies worth less, and the currency depreciate and when that happens, everyone looks at their own dollar-denominated debt and they pulled back and makes the economy of that country even worse, so joshua levy on the currency scheme pull together a basket of currencies. we show the second chart their of these countries, so we are used to looking at the broad trade weighted dollar. stephanie: can we bring that chart up? brendan: when we look at

brendan: corporate bond sales are seeing sales.le and other tech companies are seeing a resurgence after issues were frozen. there are concerns about global turmoil, global growth, to finally you are starting see the safest, most respected companies come to market -- apple, comcast, ibm, toyota. the four trips balance sheet-type companies coming out with real big issuances and saying, you know what, let's take advantage. yields are still pretty low. rendan: like the outage in home finance -- you can only get a mortgage when you do not need one. >> they have got $38 billion in cash in short term. they have got $78 billion in annual revenue. the debt is pretty miniscule in the scheme of things, so they are piling it on in my mind as we look at this. there is the closure to higher risk companies that process. -- that persists. the pace is the slowest since 2003 for this period this year. but you are seeing safer debt. for what? who knows, who cares, right? industry is notoriously fickle, and people are not getting paid all that much,
