cnn congressional correspondent lauren fox and john bresnahan is back. so, mike you obviously spent so much time with mcconnell going through all of his archives, hearing about him and obviously a lot about donald trump as well. now that he's how do you what do you anticipate in this new phase? he's no longer the leader. he has to represent his conference, but he's still got two more years and he's got powerful positions in the senate. >> i think what you're going to see is he's going to act surgically. he's not going to reflexively oppose everything. he's not going to try to get ahead of the parade on too many issues. but there will be moments where he'll say that goes too far and he'll take a stand. >> yeah, i agree entirely. i think it's fascinating. one, he's taking the defense subcommittee on appropriations, which is huge for for. it's a hugely powerful panel inside the appropriations committee. his his ally susan collins there. but he took that. i think that was a big deal. it's going to take the rules committee. but i do think protects the program

pennsylvania congressman-elect rob bresnahan joins us now. congratulations. >> thank you very much.e of the campaign. >> that's amazing, he was trying to get a seventh term and you beat him. how did you do it? >> listen, we worked really hard. we left absolutely nothing on the field. we had an incredible team. i mean, it was every single day. we drove over 50,000 miles. our district luzerne county. the home of scrant. wayne county, pike county and monroe county. we ran hard for 13 months and three days. at the end of the day we left nothing up to chance. the excitement, the energy. we knocked over 50,000 doors as a campaign. we phone banked. i mean and also the issues that we ran on were the kitchen table issues. it was about the economy and inflation. it was about the problems that you see on the southern border. it was about crime in our streets. so, everything we ran off of was what was -- what families were talking about every single day. we stayed out of partisan politics and we stayed to the issues that really make a difference. >> ainsley: what about matt cart write, was he o
