houston chronicle reporter brian is in austin. how is your hometown senator, home state doing?s he leading in the polls there? >> he is leading in the polls. although it is -- it's difficult to know by how much. i think two polls came out today. one had him up by 1u points and another one had him up by just one point. so, is clearly the favorite. he has been for months. but he hasn't sealed the deal yet. it's too soon to tell it. >> now, former governor perry has endorsed him. current governor greg abbot has endorsed of him. is that a big deal to the absolutely., do you think? yeah. especially the endorsement today of the current governor greg abbot. very popular among republicans. he has well to popular than ted cruz. so, he is definitely going to help. on the other hand, texas is an early voting state. a lot of people vote early, almost half the electorate votes early. and it's kind of late. early voting has been going on for a while now. so at least a third of voters have already cast their ballots. so it can't hurt, but in a close election, it could put him over the top. >>

>> reporter: brian, the tacos are also great in austin, we're at a taco joint. you're right, it's both surprising and not surprising. if you know bernie sanders, have an understanding for how he's looked at this campaign from the beginning and how he's waged it, they are very frustrated by this overall sense that, you know, just what happened in nevada, and now in south carolina, that this race should be totally over. they want to look to super tuesday. and i will say, from one perspective, this campaign is a little different than some other examples that we may have seen in previous election cycles, where you had someone considered a long-shot challenger and that's their fund-raising. he's raising millions and millions of dollars, essentially at the push of a button. and as long as that continues, they are going to be able to follow through on this pledge that they're releasing this statement saying, this is just the beginning. so i think that that's going to be a number to watch, as we head in to super tuesday. wether or not that fund-raising continues at the
