brian stelter, given that this is now repercolated and resurfaced and he's on his ninth life.his guy's career continues to evolve. this new show on nbc. do you think it might falter at all? >> i would say he's maybe being tried in the court of public opinion. he hasn't been convicted in the court of public opinion. one example of that is that nbc has not said that they'll walk away from this development. they've been developing a big project with him hoping to bring him back into prime time. the network is not commenting on the new commentary that's happened. it's been an interesting week. we had this twitter uproar and then her "the washington post" op-ed and now she's been on cnn and she's been elsewhere. it's bringing back to light stories that are almost a decade old. "people" magazine 2006, bill cosby under fire. the stories in the past have never gotten traction. i'm just thinking out loud here. i'm not excusing it. people just don't want to believe it when it is someone like bill cosby. >> the entertainment world is rife with famous men who use their power to victimize

brian stelter here as well. jake, let's start with you. doesn't look like anybody has reached any consensus. this is going to be a fight. >> it is going to be a fight although i have talked to some republicans on capitol hill who instead of saying that this is going to poison the well for all bipartisanship for the rest of the two years remaining in president obama's term, that this will poison the well when it comes to immigration but there are still other areas where there can be some bipartisan cooperation. that's at least a step toward cooperation from some of the other language we heard from republican leaders. we heard mitch mcconnell say this is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. we've heard john boehner, speaker of the house, say careful when you play with matches. you might get burned. i do think this is going to be very difficult in terms of creating a bipartisan atmosphere but that is at least a little calmer than i've heard from republicans in the past. >> carlos lopez, the president is in a tough situation here because

senior media correspondent and host of cnn's "reliable sources," brian stelter, has details. >> hi, fredat's the news industry term for an announcement or a report that comes out that seems to get buried by the people releasing it. and in this case, this report was put out by the house intelligence committee, controlled by republicans, but also made up of democrats. this was a bipartisan report, to look into what happened on the night of the terrorist attack in benghazi, libya, on september 11th, 2012. the report was released with little fanfare on friday night, but it seemed to dismiss many of the conspiratorial myths that have been built up and have surrounded the events in benghazi. for example, the report found that there was no intelligence failure prior to the attack. it also found that there was no quote/unquote stand down order given to military assets that could have tried to help and save the four americans who died there that night. the report goes into great detail, but i've got to be honest, i don't think it's going to change many people's minds. the report got very little a
