>> reporter: i don't think it's any surprise, brianna and poppy, that the president repeating that he wished he'd picked someone else as his attorney general is coming out at the same time the "new york times" report came out. to take you back to march 2017, jeff session his just recused himself from overseeing the russia investigation, something he had been in charge of because it was reported that he had failed to disclose contacts with russian officials. in this report is very detailed and the president had not been taking jeff sessions' calls for several days so jeff sessions flew down to palm beach, florida, where the president was staying under the impression he was going to discuss immigration with the president, but at dinner that night he wanted to talk about something else and that was jeff sessions recusing himself from the russia investigation and he wanted to recuse, and that was something jeff sessions clearly couldn't do and that was the beginning of the end of donald trump and jeff sessions. a relationship that was once very friendly. jeff sessions is first to endorse
