. >> and i'm sam brock. >> a fire started around 1:00 this morning near townsend avenue and today in the bay's christie smith is live in hayward. i understand that you just spoke with a neighbor? >> reporter: yes, the elderly woman who died has lived here for decades but in the last ten years she used a wheelchair to get around the home and they hadn't seen her much. the neighbor was really, really worried when she saw that this was the house on fire overnight. she came outside and saw that the street here, townsend avenue, was completely blocked by fire trucks. firefighters tell us when they arrived at 1:00 this morning, smokes and flames poured from the front doors and windows so they had to knock that down first. a couple that lived with the woman said that the wife's aunt was trapped inside. they had all been sleeping when the fire broke out. firefighters carried the woman out who was in her wheelchair but it was too late. she did not survive. one neighbor watched the towering flames and feared this outcome. >> i walked down here and looked at the officer and asked if everyone go

. >> and i'm sam brock. a little girl is home safe after an overnight kidnapping, but the man accused of taking her is still on the loose. for more information, we check in with derek shore who joins us live at sunnyville police headquarters where the girl was dropped off, what did you tell us? >> reporter: well it is relieving to know that little girl is okay, but the question is where is jose valencia. this is the suspect we are talking about. look at the two people involved in this, of course the victim and the suspect. a little before 10:00 last night, sunnyville police issued an amber alert for eight-year-old helena virginia lens yas. believed she was kidnapped by him. how those two are connected, we don't know. few hours later, officers say that little girl would be dropped off here at sunnyville dps, but jose valencia is not in custody. he is 150 pounds, 5'8", and he abandoned the car he was using in that kidnapping. that alleged kidnapping, but it's thought to be driving his other car, that is a yell
