from michael brown to eric bland to tamara rice. recently, of course, jamar clark. to sum it up, it seems like not much has changed. why has not much changed in the last 15 years? loretta: i think a lot about the parallels. i will say i think we had, as difficult and as highly charged as the environment is now when it comes to police community relations, and these specific cases that we are talking about. in a sense, the environment has changed. it has become more difficult because we are seeing these things that are very, very vivid and hard to watch. and frankly, they are painful to watch. when we did a case in 1988, it went to trial in 1999. you know, we did not have the videotapes people have now. even though most of the altercation occurred on the street, some of the initial beatings and the sexual assault was in a bathroom. we did not have videotapes. we had to pull it out of police witnesses, and also civilian witnesses who did not want to come forward. and if you have ever thought about a difficult witness, imagine a police officer testifying in that kind of
