bryan llenas standing by with the latest. it seemed monday night the looters and vandals overwhelmed at new york's finest. tonight it's hard to find anybody behind you. >> that's exactly right, a completely different story and what we first witnessed for the first two knights, the last two nights. tonight the streets are very empty. what you are seeing are really just a lot of nypd vehicles. i am on spring street and west broadway. we are in the soho, lower manhattan. the last few days, this area, where all the luxury stores are, were ransacked over and over again by mobs of looters. now a couple of things they are doing differently. they have blocked off the entrances into this neighborhood there that's not what they were doing before. the nypd has also set up blockades on the 96th street on the upper east and west side of manhattan to keep vehicles from coming into manhattan. we have seen lots of looters putting all their stuff into vehicles, many of them have plates from different states. that was something we were seeing.

bryan llenas is live in atlanta with that story. bryan? >> jon, good evening. just a couple hours ago, the interim police chief here in atlanta, rodney bryant said -- he said frankly that there have been a higher number of people, officers calling out sick, over the last three days. he acknowledged that. he said that officers have been giving him varying explanations. one of those explanations, he said officers are questioning their training. they're feeling challenged and attacked and uneasy about seeing two of their fellow officers criminally charged so quickly, just five days after the killing of rayshard brooks. in a message to his officers, bryant said he supports them, but he also implored his officers to show up for work. >> we are all upset by the recent events and we are also concerned for our fellow officers. i implore you to channel the concern for the fellow officers by having their back. at this moment, i implore you to remember why you became a police officer, why we did not choose this line of work because it was easy. we've not given up on this

joining us now on the ground, someone who has been covering the protests for days, bryan llenas is with us. what's going on tonight? >> good evening. this is the 12th night of protests and i can tell you the tension in the air is far different than we've seen over the last week. one that is not confrontational. it is the second night in which we have not had mass arrests and confrontation with police. this is what we are seeing all weekend, larger protests and a change not only in the tension, one that is not with conflict, but also in terms of their message. a big cheer out here is defund the nypd as well as how do you spell racist, nypd. right now, there are protesters outside who were also calling for the same thing and also calling on the mayor to resign because they don't think he's going far enough in terms of police reform. right now, the new york state assembly is already pressing with some sweeping legislation that would cause for police records to be open, a ban on choke hold, and now the new york city council is working on perhaps defunding the nypd as much as $1 billion out

bryan llenas is on the scene and new york's city, good evening, bryan. >> shannon good evening outside of the mansion the official residence of the new york city mayor you will be hard-pressed to find anyone happy with mayor bill de blasio. protesters angry he is protecting or defending nypd too much. in white pd officers feel like he's thrown them under the bus using them as political scapegoatscapegoats and more was looting over a course of two nights. this week an unprecedented effort by hundreds of former and current staffers of bill de blasio protesting him, calling on him to do more to reform the police. at least one senior aide has already defected reportedly over de blasio's defense with police tactics. the staffers and protesters are pressuring de blasio to defund the nypd by $1 billion. the nypd budget is $5.5 billion or about 6% of the city's budget. so far de blasio and nypd commissioner have agreed to move unspecified amount from nypd to youth services. but today, the mayor acknowledged he is defining the police department at a time with increased crime and the city. last

bryan llenas is live with those details. good morning. >> former atlanta police officer garrett wolfe now faces 11 charges including felony murder which is punishable by up to the death penalty for shooting rayshard brooks in the back twice and killing him in the wendy's parking lot. he also faces an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge and aggravated assault charges for a gun shot that hit a nearby car with three witnesses inside. yesterday the fulton county district attorney paul howard revealed allegations that rolfe kicked brooks as he laid on the ground we did and said "i got him." meanwhile, his partner devin brosnan faces three charges including aggravated assaults and to violations of both charges punishable by up to 20 years in prison. the d.a. yesterday accused brosnan of standing on brooks' shoulders as he laid on the ground wounded. brosnan said he was concussed and injured by brooks minutes before and didn't know what happened. the district attorney said the shooting was excessive. he noted a 41 minute

let's begin with bryan llenas. he is live in atlanta. brian?> good afternoon, he turned himself in at 11:17 p.m. at the sheriff's office. he is out on bail posting a $50,000 bond. he is facing one aggravated assault charge with a weapon and to other violations of both charges. at max prison time of 20 years. he was given this bond because the d.a. said he was being cooperative as a state witness, his lawyer hassan said that no, he is not a state witness he is simply willing to cooperate. his attorney denies with a d.a. alleged yesterday that he was on rayshard brooks' body as he was laying there wounded, standing on his arms and shoulders. his lawyers say that was a no salt. the former officer has until 6:00 p.m. tonight to turn himself in. he faces 11 charges including felony murder for shooting rayshard brooks twice in the back, killing him. if convicted he could face the death penalty. no today, congressman doug collins is calling for an independent district attorney to oversee this case. he believes the fulton county d.a. paul howard is pol

. ♪ >> martha: correspondent bryan llenas once again on the streets of new york city this evening afterend store ransacked over the course of last night. brian. >> good evening, we have one of the protests in new york city and this is a splinter group. we had many different ones throughout the city in manhattan and brooklyn which makes it very difficult to follow the groups we've seen the last few nights. if we are three hours away from curfew in new york city, and it's the first of its kind in recent memory. if governor andrew cuomo making the decisions today putting a curfew beginning at 11:00 p.m. will be lifted at 5:00 a.m. this morning. if there's a been reports of businesses being struck by protesters and today at washington square park there was this moment. the chief of department kneeling with protesters as bottles were thrown by agitators who try to incite some sort of confrontation. it was an incredible moment and here's what he said right after the moment. >> get them outta here! protest peacefully, why would anyone break into a store in your neighborhood! we employ the peop

first, we begin tonight on the ground in brooklyn, new york, bryan llenas has been with us all week and a standing by with the very latest they are. >> this is the first fourth night of the apm curfew, the brooklyn bridge is behind me and they are making sure that only essential personnel are on the road. is a much quieter evening tonight than it has been all week, still been hundreds, thousands of marchers and protesters out there against systemic racism, inequality, and police brutality. but i've got to tell you, that 8:00 p.m. curfew here is really a contentious point. the protesters are pointing to that curfew and saying it is cyclic free speech. it is putting them in a position to get to a bad position. all week, they have been saying there have been looters in a violent people and the criminals who have infiltrated these peaceful protests and that is why they are trying to enforce this curfew. they would rather you be off of the road after 8:00 p.m. they've been put in an impossible situation. protesters hand-in-hand throughout the day, but even at night, given some leeway to allo

on the ground in manhattan and joins us tonight bryan llenas, what is it like?> tucker, good evening. it is a far different situation than last night. you can see multiple police vehicles lined up. last night they had to be moving all over the place from looting. over here, you have businesses boarded up and ready. that was not the case last night with all of these businesses. if you look down here on madison avenue, it is completely empty. last night so different. we were seeing groups of looters, sometimes hundreds moving through the city. we were listening on the police scanner and there were fires all over the place in terms of looting. it was intersection after intersection after intersection from store to store in the middle of new york city. it was something unlike anything we have ever heard before. and i had never heard that before. the police officers were being injured, hurt, deep in the bronx, some shot at and another hit by a vehicle. all in all comeaux nypd said there were 500 arrests for theft, looting last night. the nypd says those arrests, thos

let's collect a bryan llenas on the upper west side of new york city. brian, things look like they're taking a turn near times square at the moment. tell us. >> laura, good evening, or getting reports about downtown and times square. what we have seen thus far though is that there have been protesters that were out throughout the day. it is different than what we saw at this moment last night with large groups of looters that were just going in and out of midtown manhattan. behind me is what is a blockade. they are blocking -- they are blocking cars right now from entering manhattan. this is part of a new aggressive action that they are taking tonight given what happened yesterday with the looting. the curfew now is at 8:00 p.m. last night it was at 11:00 p.m. they are now blocking anybody who is not a resident or essential personnel from coming in. last night we saw so much looting and people putting it into cars, a lot of out-of-state license plates and that was a big problem, so they're hoping that this will stop. we are getting some -- there is some

correspondent bryan llenas once again tracking the scene on the ground. he joins us live, good evening, brian. >> shannon, good evening. tonight is at all about the nypd cracking down on curfew violators. we are more than three hours after the 8:00 p.m. curfew that was put into effect yesterday, the curfew lasted until sunday and we were live on the air when they started moving in on a group of protesters at about 9:00 p.m. here on third avenue and 50th street. it started pouring rain and these protesters were cornered essentially, surrounded by the nypd. they have been protesting for hours peacefully but by then it was in our past curfew. they moved in using bikes and started zip tying, resting at the end of the day, 94 people arrested at least in our location. this is the scene all around the city tonight based on what we are seeing, the nypd moving in on curfew violators, all peaceful protesters from what we understand, but again, they want to clear the streets. we spoke to the chief of the department at the scene. take a listen. >> we've been giving i

tonight thousands of people ignoring that, they are on the streets, and so is our correspondent, bryan llenashe's back out there with them tonight to see the mood and how things are going, good evening. >> shannon, good evening. after yesterday, 300 or so people were arrested for curfew violations. there was a lot of criticism for the nypd from activists and protesters who thought the nypd was too aggressive towards peaceful protesters despite the fact that they were violating the curfew. today we followed protesters and they dispersed about a half hour ago. it started a little rough with some pushing and shoving at the beginning. they were telling people to please go home, they have been following this group of 200 protesters throughout brooklyn for a couple of hours and then it was seemingly amazingly good news today, it deescalated. after the nypd sandwich time between avenue, a supervisor told them, look, we are going to let you guys go, but please go home and at that point, protesters started filing out and going home. a de-escalation moment that frankly is good news given the fact that
