jessica buchanan was held hostage in somalia for more than three he months. mistreated, malnourished and health was deteriorating so fast then one night in an a instant everything changed. >> sean: walk us through the night of your resources he cue. >> i could hear scratching. there were large beetles that come out at night and i thought they were on my sleeping map. i hear one of the guys sleeping next to me get up and i see this look of sheer terror on his face and then the entire night erupts into gunfire. and all i can think is that i know i need to get down as low as i possibly can to the ground because i'm so afraid that i will be shot the in the head or are that maybe one of the pirates is going to shoot me if we are are being retaken. i had no ey idea what was going on. never did it cross my mind that it could be someone coming to my rescue until i feel hands on me roughly shaking me and i'm starting to fight back because i think if i'm being rekidnapped by another group i'm not going. i don't have the energy to survive this, i can't do this any more.

it unfolded last night on buchanan road which as you can see is an active crime scene.stigators out here piecing together exactly what happened. i put in calls to concord police, at this point no one is releasing details about the circumstances surround aring this officer involved shooting. i want to show you the scene from last night. this happened around 9:00 last night. neighbors are telling us a man was shot and killed by officers right here in the middle of the road. one witness who lives close by tells me he heard a crash of some kind, e he looked and saw a man jump out of his truck on the run from officers. the man tells me he was at home at the time with his three kids, he heard gunfire, got his kids down, and later he looked outside and saw a man's body lying in the street. this took place right outside his apartment. >> it seemed unreal. it seemed like a movie. i guess they just shot him or whatever. pop, pop, pop, pop i counted like 30 shots. >> reporter: the number of shots fired in this neighborhood and one person e- mailed us photos after the shooting. one
