like to present a project that caltrans intends to build a construction in july of 2020. construction of the project is relatively simple. it's replacing 800 feet of the northbound and southbound bridge deck of the existing u.s. 101 bridge. what makes it extremely difficult or challenging in the fact that this is in the location where 101, 280, and alemany circle exists. so there's a lot of traffic in this location. 200,000 vehicles travel in this location on a daily basis, so it's going to be difficult to convey traffic through this location while getting the work done. on your screen, you can see where exactly the location of the project is. it's, i think, affectionately called the hair ball in san francisco area. it is the alemany circle-280-101 location. the bridge decks to be replaced is the section there in orange with the circle around it. as i mentioned, it's about 8 800 feet of a concrete bridge deck, and these were the original bridge decks that were placed back in the 1950's. we've had major repairs throughout the years. in fact yesterday, we had another hole i

caltrans is on scene, unclear if this is related to the power shutoffs. they're trying to fix this situation because the traffic lights are out at a very busy intersection here in napa, but we know that in napa county the shutoffs began roughly around midnight. we do have some new video from other areas that are affected by the shutoffs, in fairfield you see the power is out at gas stations in that area. when it comes to the shutoffs, you guys mentioned it, pg&e deciding to shut off power due to elevated fire danger across the bay area and of course the decision is affng huneds of thousands of customers who are trying their best to prepare for a situation like this. the times of the shutoffs will vary by county and in some cases it could take several days until the power is ultimately restored following these shutoffs. i did get a chance to speak with a resident this morning in napa who was just getting off of work and she really doesn't know what she's going home to as far as power goes. >> it's bad for us, for my little sister. we can't have refrigerate

we have been in touch with caltrans. they are saying at this point they are trying to get generators in place in time. say the power does go off at noon, they hope to have the generators in place so they can run the emergency systems that go along with the tunnel. there are lights and fans which are about ventilation. in case there is a fire in the tunnel, they need to have those fans operational. this is really up in the air for folks going to work as to whether they'll be able to get back this afternoon through the tunnels any way. other things happening in the east bay, people have been going to hardware stores, picking up supplies, batteries, flashlights, anything they might not already have in their homes. then we've also received a fair amount of information about what will happen with the schools. at this point been told the schools will remain open even if individual facilities lose power. in orinda, if the power goes out, they plan to have the elementary kids in the classroom. a couple of high schools lose power

this track is actually a caltrans truck. the chp officers that i've spoken with this morning.y tell me that they do not believe actually the traffic lights being down hard necessarily from the major power outage that we're talking about they say that it if possibly cause. the electrical boxes he electrician that his been trying to figure out exactly the route. this issue, a pan over just little bit more here because i do want to see the electrical boxes. those are that's an area that he was working on and we have yet to hear exactly why or how. but again the california highway patrol officers out here directing traffic and highway 2019 to 21 tell me that this is actually something it had to do down power lines. not necessarily just because cause of the outage itself, however, of course and with it being such a large outage. in total maybe we can assume that are connected. we are still waiting to hear back from caltrans as well as california highway patrol on that keep you updated the rest of the morning on this again steer clear of this area if you can. taxes will be happening
