and that's when the car was split into two pieces. the front half of the car is resting here. and as we push down the street, the back half of the car is about 200 feet down and apparently, the front half of the car, it essentially kept driving, the engine kept driving and the front half of the car made its way all the way down the street. the driver was killed in the crash and the passenger survived and is now out of the hospital. investigators are trying to figure out exactly how fast the car was going. the only thing one of the investigators could tell me is that the car was going at a very high rate of speed. investigators are trying to figure out if any other cars may have been involved here. they didn't have any cars at the scene but they are trying to figure out if any other cars were involved in this crash in some form or fashion. investigators are documenting all of the debris. brian as you can imagine there's quite a bit of it scattered and it may take another hour or so to wrap up the investigation. and macarthur boulevard remains closed between high street and mapl
