"today in new york's" katherine creag is at st. patrick's cathedral to explain. merry christmas. >> reporter: merry christmas to you. indeed cardinal dolan said there is nothing more christmassy, he used that word, christmassy, to welcome a family that is seeking refuge to celebrate with them here at st. patrick's cathedral to welcome them really with open arms. we saw so many people gathered here for midnight mass, for that ever s thousands of people inside st. patrick's cathedral. among those thousands of people cardinal dolan welcomed to refugee families hosted by catholic charities who were there for the service. he didn't identify them, but said that he wanted them to keep their privacy, he didn't have them stand up, but he said one family fled el salvador, another is a muslim family from the ivory coast. we talked about with some of the people gathered outside of the cathedral about their christmas message and what it means to them. >
