we had a lot of discussions around the educational needs around the carmichael community and outlying area, and what is happening with rec and park, and how we can ensure quality and safety for our students in the community. i want to thank supervisor kim for providing the opportunity. item t is the report of closed section -- closed session actions. the board approved the expulsion of a middle school student. a public employee was dismissed. the board acted pursuant to the code to authorize the superintendent answer to fund managers -- and certified managers to offer their release for the school year. there was the appointment of one principlal, four site managers, 18 assistant principals, and four supervisors. there were classified personal transactions and the acceptance of gifts for the month of january, 2011. before our adjournment, we are very sad to have to adjourn our meeting with three wonderful people that have been in our lives. i would like to start by asking jill wynns to honor carolyn marks. commissioner wynns: a political figure in her own right, she died on february 12

groups in several of the public schools including tenderloin community elementary school, betsy carmichael, redding and buena vista. i became fack with the work of la voz. they are hugely active in helping improve communication for our parent-teacher communications and to work to ensure we are bringing bilingual staff to the schools and to keep our students in our communities ensuring safety transfers and working on not expeling kids. and the group is working on a plan to improve pedestrian safety and cleany -- cleanliness in our parks. they are very strong, outspoken women who not only work full time and raise families but dedicate their hours outside to take leadership roles in their communities, to fight for integrated and successful and affordable housing, transit and jobs. i also wanted to acknowledge today a woman that has been a huge part of holding up this program. it's a woman that i have worked very closely with, a colleague and friend who has dedicated her life to serve and organize as a tenant rights activist and organizer for the tenner lyon affordable housing clinic and s.e.i

i'm a physical education teacher at betsy carmichael middle school. in september of 2010 i gave an order of p.e. equipment to the secretary. she said they want to know what happened to the volley balls you lad -- had last year. i told her the kid kicked them on the roof and the rest were stolen. she came back and said they'd order the equipment but not the volley balls. i went and bought the volley balls plus a few other items with my own money. i have receipts right here. they told me to ask josie about the money for p.e. i asked four times between october and december. she said there's no more money for p.e., just for athletics. in january, i put in an order of $3,500 for equipment. wendy told me to write it up anyway. josie said there's now $800 for p.e., the rest is for athletics. i asked in december and january about the prop h money. i have copies of the emails between the group regarding the fund. i ordered about -- worth of equipment. i asked josie where is the rest of the money that's left and she said there's nothing left. i kept quiet about
