and also northern portions of carroll county, and approaching the western sections of baltimore county. let me take you down a little closer and show you some of that thunderstorm activity around the region. it's making its way on towards the north and east. this particular thunderstorm right there is making its way in that direction at about 30 miles an hour. should it be hitting those towns right there. and this little area of thunderstorm activity right here, just over the top of the reisterstown region, making its way in that direction shore, be into those towns between 11 and 30 minutes as it makes its way towards the north and east. we do have some thunderstorm warnings in effect for adams and york county up in pennsylvania until 6:15. our forecast for the metro area this evening, increasing clouds, few showers and storms around. you just saw them. 80s will be the temperature for the next couple of hours. now that the heat and humidity have combined to start touching off the showers, how long will they last, as well as tracking hurricane bill. all that coming up. >> so much to te

it turns out, the damage to homes in carroll county was caused by a tornado. the national weather service says an ef-0 swept through the area, winds as high as 85 miles per hour lifted portions of rooftops, busted out windows and even damaged cars. >> three or four different portions of the roof got blown away and then water came in, which flooded the top floor of the house. the top wall started to get wet and heavy and they started to cave in. >> reporter: siding was ripped off the home and tree limbs covered the yard. now contractors are helping families pick up the pieces. >> we usually go through room by room, inventory every piece. there's quite a few pieces in this home. the contractors will have to come in and dry the house out, repair the roof, dry wall, paint. >> reporter: the storm left a line of destruction extending a mile long. it is the worst this town has seen since 1996 when a tornado moved through. evan lives nearby. his mother called him in during the storm. >> she was flipping out. she said look, the house is shaking, the windows are rattlin

a deadly plane crash in carroll county. maryland state police have confirmed that the two people on board the plane were killed when it went down in a cornfield near an airport. the small plane crashed just after 7:30 this morning. no word if it crashed on takeoff or landing. the victims have not been identified. baltimore county police will not fall cit -- charges in the light will death of two teenage boys. they have said that the death was an accident. it is been a perplexing case that has many questions unanswered. our reporter has the latest. >> this is an unfortunate accident. that is how this case is being closed out. >> they have concluded their 30- day investigation into the deaths of kyle wankmiller and conner peterson. there was struck by a light rail train on july 5. the driver blamed sun glare and a sharp turn in the track, that is why he claimed he never saw the boys. >> the operator says he did not see them. we do not have any evidence to suggest otherwise. >> cell phone records were checked and it came up ok

up to 5 inches and sw carroll county. there was an area in harford county that got up to 6 inches and intense thunderstorms. now that the flood watch is in effect for much of the area west of the day, starting at 2:00 this afternoon in anticipation of more heavy rain shower activity and thunderstorms between out it and tomorrow morning at about the same time. we will talk about this coming up in just a few minutes. >> thank you. baltimore county firefighters spent the morning battling two fires, both may be related to last night's storm. they arrived at almanza hilltop avenue before 4:00 this morning to find fully engulfed. there was extensive damage. the crews were not able to complete a full search of the area. -- hill top ave. and at the start street united methodist church off eastern avenue there was a fire as well. they received a call at 3:30 this morning. it quickly spread. there were no reports of any injuries. baltimore city police continued to search for those responsible for vandalizing the southwest baltimore

but there is another area of showers coming into western carroll county. others showers past hagerstown. and in annapolis there is thunder storm activity that way as well. pretty active storms this morning. it won't be raining all day, but the threat of rain will be hanging over us all day. we will have to keep an eye on this. we have two things coming in. a tropical storm as well as some fronts in the area. let's look at the current situation as far as the warnings. if we look at the main computer, there's a flood warning in effect for harford county and there's a flood advisory in cecil county as well until 7:00 this morning. temperatures are warm. all in the 70's in our area despite the rain. high humidity all day. the front is all across the area. that will be the focal point for showers and thunder storm activity today. humidity pushing from the south. the final front of the west will take awhile to comment. a complicating factor in all that will be danny. it is spinning around in the atlantic. it is not well organized, but it is a tropical storm that

quite a bit of thunder and lightning north of baltimore, now pulling out of carroll county. got rights of flooding in northeastern maryland. here is another cluster of thunder and lightning now just exited anne arundel county, heading across the bay, just about to move over kent island heading toward chestertown and pulling off to the north and east through kent and queen an's counties. no precipitation around washington. a little bit of light rain just now coming into the central shenandoah valley. we have temperatures there in the 60s but it's in the 70s from the blu ridge to the atlantic beaches. mid-70s in washington and the eastern shore but out of the mountains in the low 60s right now. over the last six hours, we've seen this flow out of the south tapping all this moisture, bringing it on in. meanwhile, here's what's happening with tropical storm danny. it is still not organized and still really just a cluster of thunderstorms. there's washington. there's the outer banks. there's florida. these are the latest statistics. danny's peak winds are only 40. just barely a t
