this is the biggest county in nevada, 70% of the vote from nevada is from clark county. so catherine cortez masto in this new batch that we just picked up, got 17,150 additional votes. that new number, this is her total in clark county. and her republican opponent, adam laxalt, just picked up -- let me see it here. 8,000 -- let's see here, about 9,000 votes. it's about 17,000 to 9,000. that's what just came out of clark county. so again, this continues that trend. these are ballots that were dropped off in drop boxes by voters on election day. we knew that this is -- i'm trying to think, the press conference, i think this is more in fact than officials in clark county indicated would be coming out. i think at their press conference today, they suggested about 15,000 votes would be released tonight. this is 26,000 coming out of clark county. this is more than we were expecting. and cortez masto picks up 8,000 votes. so what that does to the state-wide tally, yeah, it almost erases adam laxalt's lead state-wide. down to just 798 votes. one tenth of one point. i think it's very signific

as more mail votes have come in from clark county, catherine cortez masto's number is closing. there are tens of thousands of mail votes still out. i would not be surprised if she continues to close, close, close, eventually jumps out ahead. also a gubernatorial race in the state of nevada. joe lombardo has a somewhat larger lead than adam laxalt. it's a three-point advantage. this may hold even if the senate flips. we could have split ticket voting where there's just enough people and enough independents who say i'm going to choose a republican gubernatorial candidate and democratic for senate. we'll have to wait. in nevada, looking better for democratic in the house. >>> broad leaf, people just waking up this morning. you have to tell us what the numbers are in that race in colorado? lauren boebert's race. >> let's start off on the broad view of the house, right? republicans in the fall, if we look at the seats in which they're ahead, this includes uncalled races. i think there's a question as to whether or not the democrats could actually take the lead in the uncalled races.

in nevada, a race between republican adam la can xalt and catherine cortez masto. clark county is due to hold a press conference this hour. in georgia, a runoff election between democratic senator warnock and republican herschel walker still weeks away. cnn has teams on the ground in those key battleground states covering all the latest developments in these critical elections. let's go first to kyunglah in phoenix. what was his message to supporters? >> reporter: well, basically he's responding to the various news projections, including cnn projecting he has won the senate seat defeating republican blake masters. and he met with supporters earlier today. in just the last couple of hours, telling supporters that he appreciated their work. that this was a long-fought campaign, a very expensive campaign as well. with the stakes very high. that being control of congress. arizona now remaining in the democratic column. and here's a little bit of what he told his supporters. >> you are all the reason that we are successful. [ applause ]. i also want to thank our state's elect

clark county. joe biden won this county by 9 prnts. remember, catherinenning a bit behind. she needs to overperform. she has to do better than this to overtake adam laxalt. 95% of the vote is out. we think there are about 50 to 55,000 votes overall in the state of nevada. >> that still have to be counted? >> that are still to be reported. we know from clark county officials that we're going to get some 22,000 votes, so a big chunk of that will go away when he get those votes reported. obviously there are some smaller counts in the red rural counts in the state. we're estimating about 94% in a tight swing county. we watched this throughout the course of this week go from a laxalt lead to now a cortez masto lead. washo is expected to deliver some votes. that could help catherine cortez masto potential little overtake adam laxalt there. those may come later in the evening. it's these two blue counties that have the most votes left to deliver, which is what's giving hope to the cortez masto campaign, that they can overtake laxalt and win this race. >> the big

in clark county in general, it's split about 52% to 45%. 52% for the democrat catherine cortez masto,nt, 45% for adam laxalt. in the vote that's been counted after tuesday in the mail-in vote, it's actually skewed more blue, more in favor of catherine cortez masto. she's been getting 60% or higher of the vote that's been counted the last couple days in clark county. what does that mean? i'm going to do some advanced math for you, which isn't easy for me, but i think it illustrated why everyone is so keen to figure out what's going to happen maybe in the next few minutes. 22,000 votes coming in minutes or hours from now. if she wins 60%, which is what she has been doing there, that would give her 13,200 votes in this batch from clark county. it would give adam laxalt 8800 votes. the difference is 4400. she would net 4400 votes. in truth, she would probably net more than 4400 votes, because if she hits over 60, he typically gets around 35. you will notice adam laxalt's lead is 862 votes. if catherine cortez masto nets 400,000 votes from just clark county, that would put her in the lead

there's about 12,300 folks released in clark county. and catherineam laxalt had about 34%. and that sizable margin she got last night in clark county. it is still enough, if these margins were to hold out above 60%, for her to catch up to him. now, there is one slight mystery out there, alex. that is exactly how many ballots are removed. we think that there are somewhere between 80 and 100,000 ballots. but we're not sure how many, and it's how those ballots break that could be the key to this race. one other thing to complicate everything further. is that mail can still committed saturday. as long as it was postmarked on election day or before. and in those ballots, some of them are being taken out as they can be cured, as a term of art, up until a couple of days later. we may not know for sure what this race until next week alex. >> painful. you know, you tweeted, i think two days ago about how close nevada senate races have been, historically. we're talking about races that everyone from harry reid on has had races that hung on a handful of ballots

catherine cortez masto the democrat won about 60%. you can see how that margin shrunk right there. and in clarkdown here in the south there were roughly 12,000 new votes counts reported, 12,000 of which catherine cortez masto the democrat won 61%. so you can see again how that lead was shrinking. 57,000 more votes from clark county, 22,000 more from washau, it might be enough runway for masto to retake the lead. i want to give you a historical reference point of races in nevada, they can be very close. the 1998 race harry reid won by 401 votes so it can be tight, very tight. this one might be like that. let's quickly look at arizona, you can see mark kelly with a lead of 115,000 votes, he expanded that lead from about 85,000 yesterday. some 540,000 votes left to count. a lot of vote left to count, including a huge batch from maricopa county, including -- now, stick with me here -- 290,000 mail ballots that were delivered on election day, hand-delivered on election day. and the big question for control of the senate right now is will those ballots behave more like in person election day votes wh

clark? >> in the state overall. >> okay. >> and if the margins for those are what we saw last night, catherine cortez masto could, could potentially take the lead. arizona now. i want to spend some time here. this changed overnight. mark kelly the incumbent leads by 95,000. which is a greater lead than it was last night. if you went to sleep yesterday, this is what you saw. you saw mark kelly ahead by 89,000 but then votes released from maricopa county and pima county, his lead grew to 95,000. i'm going to tell you this, you have to take my word for it, there's about 560,000 at least, 560,000 votes at least left to count. largely from maricopa county here and pima county down here. what these votes look like we're not sure. two years ago that vote, that batch was a little more republican. so blake masters has a chance here to close this gap and maybe overtake it. i did some math. if he manages to win 60% of the remaining vote, if, that's a tall order but not impossible, that would net him a total of 112,000 votes. okay. >> okay. >> which is more than 95,000. so his target is right around 58%.
