police chief cathy lanier defended the officer that wrote the report claiming omissions on the fact that the driver left the scene. no one was faulted a fact that she did not find troubling at all. according to a diagram of the accident, the mayor's vehicle appears to be the striking vehicle. it's listed as number one. the other driver number 2. the mayor told the investigating officer he was southbound on broad branch road when he was struck by the other driver. sunday night the mayor's spokesperson says the other driver struck a stop sign. in an e-mail response, chief lanier said the mayor clearly struck the side of the other vehicle. being the striking vehicle does not i am fly fault. there are many other factors, traffic control signals, speed, et cetera. government protocol requires photos to be taken when a government vehicle is involved in a crash. none were taken. the chief says by the time the officers arrived the cars were moved and the driver of the other car left. we do have photos of the damage on the government vehicle. protocol dictates all passengers be listed on the repo
