i'm chris cato. let's hope it's another 80 years before it's this cold again. meteorologist bill henley is here with his first alert forecast. good morning, bill. >> good morning, chris. the temperatures have plunged overnight. we're seeing the wind die down, but with clear skies and very dry air, that's allowing the temperatures to come down as well. the wind is not completely gone, it's just not as strong as yesterday. that's the view from center city. 23 degrees right now in philadelphia. that's just three degrees above the record low of 20 degrees. it's close to record territory for reading, just two degrees above the record, and mt. pocono just two degrees above the record at 12 degrees. factor in the breeze, it feels like 11 in philadelphia, 6 below in the pocono mountains. it's a cold start this morning. 20 degrees at 7:00, 24 at 9:00, and by lunchtime with sunshine, we'll still be in the 20s, up to 29 degrees at noontime today. i'll be back in less than ten minutes with the future weather. we'll go through it hour by hour. first, nbc 10's jesse gary is

i'm chris cato. >> and i'm tracy davidson. let's find out more from bill henley in the first alert weather center. >> they're helping keep things warmer this morning. we're in the 50s right now. we're running 15 to 20 degrees warmer than yesterday morning. so, there are benefits to clouds and fog. low cloudiness. we have a clear view across the delaware here. it's a different story, though, in much of delaware and south jersey. that's where we are seeing thick fog this morning. there it is. you can see north and west fog is not an issue. 10-mile visibility for pottstown and bluebell. good visibility in wilmington and philadelphia international. but move over to trenton, wrightstown, toms river. that's the fog, and it's really thick in south jersey and central and southern delaware. 1/4-mile visibility or less this morning. zero visibility right now in cape may. it's 57, though, in philadelphia. wilmington is 59 degrees. 50s even extend into the pocono mountains. it's allentown that's the cool spot at 49 degrees right now. but

chris cato is live in the digital operation center. that crime in virginia happened one month before carlesha's abduction in philadelphia, right? inth >> this timeline is interesting. one month before carlesha's abduction. they get the confirmation that barnes is the suspect on october 28th. five days before the abduction. if it could have been sped up, it could have possibly been spared. they say he attacked a 16-year-old girl hitting her in the head with a shovel, sexually assaulting her at his home and then poured gasoline and bleach all over her and set her clothes on fire. now, he was caught on wednesday in maryland, three days after carlesha's abduction off the streets of philadelphia. virginia police actually played a big role in his capture. they noticed a detail on the surveillance video of the kidnapping. >> we had information he was driving that ford torrance and then through the video you could see the inspection sticker on the front and we are only one of the few states that have a sticker in that same position. >> virgini
